Transcript
00:00 It's not just the female beauty pageants that are getting popular in the Philippines,
00:05 but also the male beauty pageants are getting popular.
00:10 Let's continue with the recent victory of Jesus Ginto,
00:14 Jesse, as the fifth runner-up in the 6th Mr. Grand International held in Spain.
00:21 And now, we'll be with him live in the studio,
00:25 and he'll tell us about his journey.
00:27 Good morning!
00:28 Jesus, welcome to the Residence Show in the Philippines, or Jesse?
00:31 Jesse.
00:32 Jesse, good morning.
00:33 Good morning.
00:34 It's okay, Jesus. Let's use him.
00:35 I feel so blessed to have an interview with Jesus.
00:39 Tell us about your experience here as you were part of the 6th Mr. Grand International in Spain.
00:49 What is the unforgettable experience in joining this?
00:53 Well, I'd say it was a very humbling experience.
00:57 I will never forget it because it was also my first time in mainland Europe, in Spain.
01:02 So technically, when I was there, it was literally new to me.
01:07 And I don't think I'll ever forget the trip alone.
01:10 You went alone?
01:12 It was Europe, and it was a new place for me, so I was a bit nervous.
01:17 So there was a culture shock?
01:19 Yes, there was a factor like that.
01:22 And I don't think I'll ever forget the adrenaline I felt during the competition.
01:27 Because our schedule was full every day.
01:30 So I really got focused on the competition to the point that I forgot that I was in Spain.
01:37 But don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it.
01:39 After our coronation, I was able to stay for an additional two days.
01:45 So you were able to tour somehow.
01:47 Yes, somehow I enjoyed it.
01:49 Wow, those are the perks of joining these competitions.
01:53 You really get enlightened and you get to see a lot of things aside from the Philippines.
01:57 That's why I don't have any perks, I can't get away from it.
01:59 You know, you might win.
02:00 It's hard sometimes.
02:01 Jesse, what was the reaction of your team and your family, and your loved ones,
02:07 the people who supported you when you were announced as the fifth runner-up?
02:11 Happy, happy of course.
02:13 They were happy.
02:14 Personally, I named myself to be included in the top six.
02:22 Because I really know that the competition is really tough.
02:25 All the candidates have the edge to be on the top.
02:30 So when I was really called during the top six,
02:33 you can really see on my face that, "Yes, finally I made it."
02:37 Whatever my position or title in the top six, I was really happy with it.
02:45 But I still fought for it until the end.
02:48 Your coat is beautiful.
02:49 Thank you.
02:50 I love it.
02:51 You can wear it.
02:52 If it fits me.
02:53 Aside from being the fifth runner-up, you also got some awards.
02:58 Like you got the best in high fashion sportswear.
03:01 And you were also the third runner-up in high fashion formal wear.
03:06 Did you expect to be included in the competition?
03:09 Since I understand that you should have competed in other competitions.
03:13 But you were the one who brought the Choo Choo Visa.
03:16 So preparation-wise, you weren't prepared.
03:19 Tell us, if you really prepared for this, did you get a higher rank?
03:25 But don't get us wrong, we're really proud of you for being the fifth runner-up for this competition.
03:30 I'd say yes.
03:31 If I had ample time to prepare, it's possible that we could have reached a higher placement.
03:40 But as for me, since I joined the pageantry, I really didn't have any expectations at all.
03:48 Since I'm Mr. Grand Philippines, I really didn't have any expectations.
03:51 As in zero expectations.
03:52 I was just trying to give my 101% performance for the pageant.
03:58 So yeah, among those who believed in me at the time,
04:04 some said that it's okay to be the fifth runner-up because you still represent the Philippines.
04:10 How many did you compete in?
04:11 I think about 22.
04:13 22?
04:14 22 candidates.
04:15 Among the 22 candidates, I finished fifth runner-up.
04:19 So I think I really made my country proud.
04:24 It's a good perspective that you shouldn't look at tomorrow too much.
04:30 You seize the day and enjoy it.
04:33 And with that, you're still in the fifth runner-up position.
04:37 But after Mr. Grand International, for you, what's next?
04:40 Do you have plans to join other pageants or do you want to become an artist?
04:46 What are your future plans, Jesse?
04:49 For now, we're focused on my responsibilities as fifth runner-up of MGI, Mr. Grand International.
04:55 And then, if I'm given a door in show business, I'm very willing to really accept it.
05:04 And then, I'm actually into modeling already.
05:07 I'm also into commercials.
05:09 So yeah, looking forward, those are the things I want to explore.
05:15 Well, it's a lucrative opportunity for you to open your doors.
05:19 How old are you, if you don't mind?
05:21 Because you're very mature.
05:22 Thank you, 28.
05:23 28?
05:24 Nice.
05:25 So looking forward to your future endeavors and your advocacy.
05:30 Of course, being the Mr. Grand International 2020, for you, fifth runner-up.
05:34 So maybe, give a message to your supporters, our fellow countrymen,
05:40 who are tirelessly giving support and love to you.
05:43 Thank you so much to all who gave support to me during my stint in Spain for Mr. Grand International.
05:53 To all the supporters, the fans, to my family, colleagues, and co-workers in my job.
05:58 Thank you so much for all your love and support.
06:02 To my sponsors, to the designers who helped me during my stint in Spain, thank you so much.
06:14 So you work now?
06:16 Yes.
06:17 What do you do now?
06:19 Now, actually, I'm a freelance actor.
06:23 So you're more or less there.
06:25 Your social media accounts, so we know where to watch you.
06:30 Yes, you can follow me on my social media accounts @jesseguinto.
06:36 Are they very blessed when you're with them?
06:38 Do they feel like they're going to heaven in the perfect time?
06:42 I'd say, maybe.
06:44 Is that how you are?
06:45 If your name is Jesus, are you also like that?
06:47 It's like your ancestors are laughing at you.
06:51 In a way, it's kind of pressured to me that that's my name.
06:54 So you need to be kind.
06:56 I'm pressured to do number one, maybe I won't be in heaven.
07:00 Lord might get mad at me.
07:01 So to the judges who didn't make you number one, they got ready.
07:05 It's just a joke.
07:06 Alright, thank you so much for being here.
07:08 Thank you.
07:09 Thank you for talking to us today.
07:11 Congratulations again, and good luck with your future endeavors.
