00:00The Department of Justice, or DOJ, has presented in detail the bones retrieved by the Philippine Coast Guard, or PCG, at the Daal Lake in the past seven days.
00:10Among these bones are two or more skulls with teeth, and others wrapped in a cloth or plastic.
00:17There are also other bones that appear to be from other parts of the body, as well as hair and clothes.
00:23The scene of the crime operative, Sir Soko, has confirmed these are human bones.
00:28And the DOJ is positive that there will be DNA retrieved from these bones.
00:32That's why they are asking for help from the Japanese government for the DNA testing, and to the University of the Philippines.
00:39Given the pronouncements of the PNP that their capacities and capabilities are limited,
00:44then we were constrained to asking for help from the UP Forensic Pathology Department, as well as the Anthropology Department, and the Japanese government.
00:53The DOJ explained, instead of Philippine National Police, Japan and UP will take the lead in the DNA testing.
01:00They will choose the bones, which are easiest to profile, and they will also set up a dental bank record for the dentures retrieved along with the bones.
01:08However, the Secretary still believes, especially with the teeth, lalo na po yung buhok, na pwede pa natin ito ma-DNA.
01:20We'll also start to look for dental records, and create a dental bank record, if that's what you call it,
01:28so that we can identify also kung sino talaga itong mga to.
01:32While waiting for Japan and UP's help, the DOJ also called on the families of the missing cockfighters,
01:38if it is possible to help authorities identify the clothes and dentures, based on the photos they have shared publicly.
01:45The DOJ is ready to help, even those who have retracted from the case.
01:49Kung sa tingin nila po ay familiar yung mga damit na nakita natin, lalo na yung mga may design.
01:57Ano? Ito po. May rosas, no? Nakita.
02:02So, if we are showing this to the public precisely, for them to be able to tell us kung meron silang ma-identify din dito.
02:11If these bones are identified, the DOJ said, these will be strong pieces of evidence for the murder case.
02:17Well, in a murder case, it's very, very helpful to produce the body of the victim.
02:24So, if we are able to identify that the person that we are looking for and that we assumed was already dead is exactly this person,
02:33at mapapalakas po talaga ang kaso natin because we're able to present the body of the victim.
02:39Meanwhile, the DOJ has confirmed that the whistleblower Julie Patidongan, or alias Totoy, as well as his sibling,
02:46has submitted their affidavits to the DOJ.
02:49Secretary Jesus Crispin Rimulya said, these will also make the cases even more stronger than before.
