00:00 The great thing about Pixar is that people love to work on new and experimental projects.

00:05 We let people know like, "Hey, we're making a stop-motion film. Do you want to help?"

00:09 But we also knew that we didn't have all the skill sets to make a stop-motion film,

00:13 so we actually contacted Tippett Studios in Berkeley, California to help us make this film.

00:19 The stop-motion element plays into the story.

00:23 In the film, self is the only thing that's stop-motion versus everything around her is CG.

00:28 We wanted to accentuate the difference between a stop-motion puppet and a CG character.

00:33 CG characters move differently. They have a different kind of flow, whereas stop-motion puppet, she looks different.

00:39 This puppet was yearning to become this smoother character.
