Pattie Mallette, Justin Bieber’s mother, shares her story of abuse, addiction and abortion in her new book, “Nowhere But Up: The Story of Justin Bieber’s Mom.”
Mallette was sexually abused by multiple offenders from age three to 14, which led her to feel shame, blame and self-hatred.
Mallette attempted suicide at 15 by throwing herself in front of a truck, but survived and had a spiritual awakening in a psychiatric ward.
Mallette became pregnant with Justin at 17, and despite being encouraged to abort the baby, she decided to keep him and do her best to raise him.
Mallette said she was proud of her son and his musical talent, which she noticed when he was a newborn and sounded like he was singing.
Mallette hopes her book will inspire and help other young girls who have gone through similar struggles.
