00:29 Khairi was responding to questions on the outcome of Najib's appeal to the Pardons

00:33 Board during a press conference to promote the KL Podfest.

00:38 The Pardons Board said following its meeting on January 29, it decided that the 12-year

00:42 jail sentence of Najib had been reduced to six years and the Rs 210 million fine imposed

00:48 on him also reduced to Rs 50 million. Najib will be released on August 23, 2028.

00:56 On whether Najib's release close to the 16th general election would have an impact on the

01:00 political landscape, Khairi said though Najib would not be able to contest, his presence

01:05 would certainly make a difference. He said Najib does have supporters and would go on

01:10 the campaign trail during the election period.
