Walmart plans to build or convert more than 150 U.S. stores in the next five years, marking a change as it slowed new store openings in 2016. The last time Walmart opened a new store was in November 2021. It operates roughly 4,700 U.S. locations, including 600 Sam's Club sites. The first two new Neighborhood Market stores will open this spring in Atlanta and Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. Walmart is also finalizing construction plans on 12 new store projects to start this year and converting one smaller store to a Supercenter.
