00:00 In the tent camps of southern Gaza, displaced Palestinians say it's difficult to find the
00:07 medicine they need for their sick children.
00:10 Mother Mushira Abu Lebdeh says she sleeps in a tent with 10 others and no warmth.
00:16 She is unable to find fever medication, antibiotics or pain relief for her suffering children.
00:22 "Honestly, we don't need food or work. We need medicine. We need a safe place for the
00:30 children. There is no warmth. The tent is cold. 10 people in the tent is cold. The warmth
00:38 is zero. There is no warmth in the tent. For example, this one is going to sleep like
00:45 this. It's going to be like this. It's going to take the children's bones. This is life."
00:53 It's a major concern as recent escalation of violence has exacerbated existing problems.
00:59 Basic supplies like medicine and health care are almost impossible to come by.
01:04 The World Health Organization says most of the enclave's 36 hospitals have stopped working.
01:10 Fifteen are partially functioning, operating at up to three times their capacity, without
01:15 adequate fuel or medical supplies, it says.
01:19 Infectious diseases have also been spreading rapidly, including diarrhea cases among children
01:25 under five. They say they are 20 times higher in November compared to last year.
01:30 Dr. Imad Kabajesh works at European Hospital in Khan Yunis. He told Reuters they have around
01:37 7,000 illness cases daily, with access to hospitals difficult for parents. He says they
01:42 lose children every day due to basic medicine shortages, the situation now critical as temperatures
01:49 drop in the winter months.
01:51 A lack of proper housing and heating means families will be vulnerable to cold and pneumonia.
01:58 Israel launched its offensive in Gaza after Hamas' October 7 attack. The military campaign
02:05 has killed more than 25,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza health authorities.
02:10 "We are not going to give up. We are not going to give up. We are not going to give up. We
02:17 are not going to give up. We are not going to give up. We are not going to give up.
