DepED AT CHED, tiniyak na tuloy pa rin ang Senior High School Program
Transcript
00:00 The Department of Education and the Commission on Higher Education
00:03 have confirmed that the Senior High School Program in the country is still ongoing.
00:06 This was explained by the two agencies in the hearing of the House Committee on Basic Education and Culture.
00:12 They admitted that there was a confusion after the memorandum of the CHED
00:17 until the transition period of the SHS Program in the state and local universities and colleges.
00:24 CHED Chair Devera said that the memorandum was just a farce. Higher education institutions
00:30 were asked to discuss the program with their board.
00:34 As for the judges, the message of each agency should be clear so that it will not cause any concern.
00:41 The Vice President has already given out instructions that DEPED,
00:47 because of the situation of having 17,751 learners in grade 11,
00:53 DEPED will again be extending our voucher program to the grade 11 learners in SUCs and LUCs for this current school year.
01:06 And DEPED will again extend the voucher program when they enter grade 12 next year,
01:14 provided that a memorandum of agreement is executed between DEPED and CHED to provide a clear timeline.
01:22 So I guess with that, Sir, I think that is our brief summary of the matter and what we plan to do.
01:27 But aside from that, we'd like to inform the committee that we've already instructed our team to also plot out
01:34 where our SUCs and LUCs are located, how many learners per region are affected, which is the 17,751,
01:45 and to determine how many DEPED schools that are offered by senior high schools and also private schools
01:53 that are offered by senior high schools are located within the area.
