00:00 Well first of all you look lovely. Tell me how did you decide this is what you
00:03 wanted to wear to Palm Springs?
00:05 Well I put it on and it was long sleeves which was nice for being outside in this chilly weather.
00:14 But there's also a little bit of sneak peek interest.
00:17 I love it. It's so chic.
00:19 I don't know, it just felt fun.
00:20 It's so funny because I talked to you in the summer when Barbie was first premiering and here we are in the new year
00:25 celebrating the movie at the Palm Springs International Film Festival.
00:28 Plus nine Golden Globe nominations and 18 Critics Choice nominations including one for yourself.
00:33 When you guys were making this did you ever imagine that'd be part of the award circuit conversation?
00:37 No, not really. I mean that wasn't, I don't, I wasn't thinking ahead that far.
00:43 I mean I think I thought as far ahead as you know excited for the audiences to watch the movie.
00:52 You know we were in our little bubble making it for months and months.
00:55 And knowing that it was special and fun and unique and just really anticipating that moment when the audiences got to
01:03 finally you know see this incredibly unexpected vision that Greta had for this world.
01:09 And so for you, you know obviously you've been in this industry for so long and you've been a part of such important
01:14 projects and stories. But seeing the impact and the global reach this has done, are you pinching yourself that you
01:19 even got to be a part of it?
01:20 Yeah, it's hard to really comprehend you know something as global as this has been and you know the largest film
01:32 that Warner Brothers has made in the history of Warner Brothers.
01:34 It's you know at a certain point it's like it is kind of pinch me because you can't really like comprehend it.
01:41 It's like okay I get that it's big you know but for me the moments where I really get to feel the impact of it is
01:48 when I get to like see the reactions of the audiences during the screening, after a screening where people are
01:55 really enjoying it and soaking it in and being moved by it. And you know it's kind of the bigger it gets the
02:02 harder it is to understand. But then the more intimate your interactions with audience members are, the more
02:08 I can feel the impact of the film.
02:11 Now you know we love when you and your sisterhood of the Traveling Pants co-stars get together.
02:15 And I know you guys have always supported each other but the way they showed up for you in support of this film
02:19 and your performance, how special is that?
02:21 I mean they're my girls. I feel so incredibly lucky that I've had this sisterhood in real life because we all
02:33 grew up together and we grew up in the same industry and we've all seen each other through so many life moments
02:40 and career moments and ups and downs and to have a friendship 20 years later that is really incredibly supportive
02:52 and meaningful, it just feels like such a gift and I love them each so deeply and there is something about like
03:00 when our forces combine.
03:02 It breaks the internet!
03:04 I know, I know, that's so weird. I just mean like our energy goes off the charts. Like when the four of us are in the
03:10 same room, we're like, it's like we're back on the set of the first movie and we never stop talking over each other
03:15 or you know it's like the exact same dynamic we started 20 years ago.
03:19 I was gonna say next year marks 20 years since Sisterhood. Have you guys talked about how you might celebrate
03:23 that milestone?
03:24 No, no but that's a good idea. I think we should have a 20 year celebration.
