00:00 It was a huge award weekend with the Golden Globes and the Emmys going down.
00:04 Ariana Grande, The Weeknd and Lil Nas X teased new music.
00:08 We revealed this week's top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
00:12 And we kick off a full week of cover stars.
00:14 Happy Monday, it's January 8th, I'm Tetris Kelly and we've got, wait for it,
00:22 five new cover stars this week for our future of genres issue.
00:26 In today's feature of electronic cover stars are Odatari and Barely Human.
00:31 So the first song that I had that went viral, I think in like one day I had hit
00:36 256,000 streams, which was crazy to me because I had never passed like 10k on a song.
00:44 But I saw how fast it went up, got really excited and then the next day it dropped like half.
00:50 So it was like a roller coaster.
00:52 Ain't nobody taking you away from me today, I promise ain't nobody using it.
00:56 Once it started to really hit was when I would see a bunch of videos from people
01:01 just creating things and coming up with their own ideas with the song.
01:05 I remember specifically one of the things that helped a lot was a South Park edit.
01:09 I don't know why, but that's something that really helped the song take off.
01:17 A lot of people that were making similar music to us were not showing their faces at all.
01:24 So we made sure to also attach the image to it because a lot of songs that blow up on TikTok,
01:31 like most people just scroll, like they'll hear the song, but they don't really care
01:36 about it or the person who made it. So I feel like we really nailed it on that.

01:48 We'll have a new cover for you every day this week, but it's time to get to our award show
01:52 coverage. If you didn't catch the Golden Globes last night, don't worry, we've got you covered.
01:57 The 81st Golden Globes were a night to remember.
02:00 And musicians showed up in full force, from rock stars to pop stars, producers and multi-hyphenates.
02:07 Inside the Beverly Hilton, the cameras love nominees and besties Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez,
02:13 who sat next to co-star Meryl Streep. Selena seemed surprised to hear her name when they
02:18 announced Best Actress in a TV series, musical or comedy, but seemed super excited when Ayo
02:24 Etebiri won the trophy. Andra Day and John Batiste hilariously presented Best Original Song.
02:31 Music can take you anywhere. It took me from singing in a strip...
02:38 mall, yes, that's a mall, sorry. To winning a Grammy.
02:45 Which Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas won for What I Was Made For from Barbie.
02:52 It was exactly a year ago almost that we were shown the movie, and I was very,
02:56 very miserable and depressed at the time. And writing that song kind of saved me a little bit.
03:03 Barbie also took home the first ever award for cinematic and box office achievement.
03:08 Thank you so much to the Golden Globes for creating an award that celebrates movie fans.
03:14 For everything Golden Globes, head to Billboard.com.
03:17 And it wasn't just the Golden Globes last night. The Creative Arts Emmys were pushed
03:23 because of the writers and actor strikes, and musicians took home plenty of trophies.
03:28 Rihanna, Jay-Z, Ed Sheeran and more win big at the 2023 Primetime Emmys Creative Arts Award.
03:36 From the Baby Bump to the Epic Setlist, Rihanna's Halftime Show was a moment in pop culture. It won
03:42 Jay-Z his second Primetime Emmy in two years for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special.
03:48 The Apple Music Halftime also won Outstanding Production Design for a Variety Special.
03:53 One of our favorite songwriters was also awarded.
03:56 Pop music crooner Ed Sheeran and super producer Max Martin, along with four bands,
04:01 won their first Primetime Emmys. They took home the award for Outstanding Original Music
04:06 and Lyrics for A Beautiful Game, which they wrote for an episode of Ted Lasso.
04:10 Keke Palmer was the first woman in 15 years to win Outstanding Host for a game show.
04:20 Other big wins include Weird, the Al Yankovic story, which won Outstanding Television Movie,
04:25 and Elton John Live Farewell from Dodger Stadium, which won two awards.
04:30 Let's talk new music. Some of your faves are teasing what's to come and you don't have long to wait.
04:37 Lil Nas X has a pop star collab. The Weeknd is set to close out his trilogy of albums
04:42 and Ariana Grande says yes and. Lil Nas X has been all over Twitter the past few days,
04:48 making documentary announcements and teasing music. And now we know who the major pop star
04:52 he recruited for his Friday release is. He tweeted pics of Kesha holding a sign saying
04:57 "New music coming soon" and him holding one that says "What she said."
05:01 Also releasing their next single on Friday, Ariana Grande. She took to Insta to let fans know her
05:07 song "Yes And" will drop on the 12th and clarified that the title of the track is not the title of
05:12 the album. But the artwork she shared with the announcement is one of the covers of the album.
05:17 Speaking of albums, The Weeknd teased the final chapter of his trilogy of albums,
05:21 sharing the covers of After Hours, Dawn FM and a blank cover with a question mark.
05:26 Guess we'll have to be patient to see what's next.
05:29 Before I let you go, we've got to get to the Billboard Hot 100.
05:34 It's a new year and we've got some new faces breaking into the top 10.
05:38 This is the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 for the week dated January 13th.
05:42 Doja Cat brings Agoura Hills to the top 10 for the first time.
05:48 "I wanna show you off, I wanna show you off"
05:52 Luke Combs is back at 9 with "Fast Car."
05:55 "You got a fast car, is it fast enough so we can fly away?"
06:00 Last Night keeps it country at 8.
06:02 "I know that last night we lit the liquor top"
06:07 With Tyla's "Water" at a new number 7 high.
06:10 "Make me lose my breath, make me water"
06:14 SZA's "Snooze" is at number 6.
06:16 "I can't lose, when I'm with you"

06:44 Taylor Swift is still strong at number 2.
06:46 And returning to his pre-holiday number 1 spot is Jack Harlow with "Lovin' On Me"
06:55 That's it for today, come back tomorrow for our next cover star
07:03 and our interview with James Samuel. I'm Tetris Kelly and this is Billboard News.
