Three teenagers have been charged at a Magistrate's Court in Johor Baru with kidnapping a seven-year-old boy earlier this month.  Jonathan Yet, 18, and two boys, aged 16 and 17, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to them in Mandarin before Magistrate R. Salini on Wednesday (Dec 27). 00:25 from his lawful guardian at Jalan Serampang at 5.15pm on December 12.

00:31 The charge was framed under Section 363 of the Penal Code,

00:38 for a criminal act committed by several persons with a common intention.

00:43 The three accused face up to seven years in jail or a fine upon conviction.

00:49 The court allowed bail at 2,500 ringgit for each accused with one surety

00:54 and set January 23 for the next mention and for the accused to appoint counsel.

01:00 The teens were also ordered to undergo social and moral evaluation by the Social Welfare Department.

01:07 In the incident on December 12, a Chinese national with Singapore Permanent Residence status

01:14 suffered serious injuries while trying to save his son from being kidnapped by a group of men.

01:22 The main suspect, a 41-year-old car mechanic,
