00:00 I'm Imogen Holland, time for your North East News update.
00:05 Police are appealing for information after a boy was injured after being struck by a
00:08 vehicle.
00:10 Officers received a report on the 7th of December that a 12-year-old boy was crossing Allendale
00:14 Road and was struck by a small purple vehicle.
00:17 The driver of the vehicle left the scene without stopping and the boy was taken to hospital
00:21 and was later discharged.
00:23 The Ten and Wayfairer Rescue Service and the Royal Life Saving Society have launched their
00:26 annual Don't Drink and Drown campaign.
00:29 The campaign reinforces the message to keep away from bodies of water after a few drinks
00:34 and to look out for your friends during the Christmas party season.
00:37 And finally, the Tyne Bridge as well as other North East landmarks will be lit in green
00:41 to support Childline.
00:43 The Tyne Bridge, Newcastle Civic Centre and the Newcastle Castle will be lit up to create
00:47 a visual reminder that Childline is there for children and young people during the festive
