00:00 When I wake up at 28 years old, I was $50,000 in debt.

00:03 You know, couldn't sleep at night

00:05 'cause it felt like I had bricks on my chest.

00:07 I was 213 pounds, which for me and my frame

00:11 was way overweight.

00:13 I was prescribed Lipitor.

00:15 I had to take blood thinners,

00:17 and it was like a total disaster.

00:20 What am I gonna do with my life?

00:21 Like, I cannot take another day in this level of pain.

00:26 I was at my breaking point,

00:28 and my mom must have intuitively known it

00:31 because I used to kind of hide a lot of this.

00:34 I used to make it look like everything was okay

00:35 on the outside, and she gives me a book,

00:39 and in that book, she just writes in the front cover,

00:42 "I believe in you."

00:43 And it was in that moment,

00:46 I'll never forget looking at the book.

00:48 It gave me hope when I didn't have it.

00:51 It gave me the possibility of a future that was bright

00:54 when it seemed so dark and dim and nasty

00:56 and just terrible all around me.

00:59 And in that moment, one person who believed in me,

01:02 because I was no longer believing in me,

01:04 changed everything.

01:06 And I took that in, and I remember crying,

01:08 and I remember reading it,

01:09 and I just kept reading it over and over.

01:10 "I believe in you," and I kept picturing my mom.

01:12 She would always say, "You can do anything

01:14 "you put your mind to," over and over and over.

01:17 I said, "You know what?

01:18 "This is my choice point.

01:21 "I get to either allow this situation to break me.

01:25 "I just give up on my dreams forever,

01:27 "and I do what everyone else is telling me to do.

01:29 "Everyone else is telling me to go get a job.

01:31 "Everyone else is telling me you're not good enough.

01:33 "People are laughing at me."

01:35 And instead, I said, "You know what?

01:37 "I'm gonna borrow my mom's belief.

01:39 "Even though I'm 28 years old, between 28 and 30,

01:42 "I'm gonna set a date."

01:45 And I had always wanted to sell a business

01:46 by the time I was three, but I'm gonna set a date,

01:48 and I'm gonna actually declare it.

01:49 I'm gonna tell people that I'm gonna build

01:52 and sell a company before I turn 30 years old.

01:54 I got a tattoo on my chest with a goal on it,

01:58 a cross, and inside the middle of that cross,

02:00 it says, "Believe 2012" backwards.

02:03 So if you look at me, you're like,

02:04 "What's that on your chest?

02:05 "What does that say?"

02:06 But in the mirror, every single day,

02:08 I could look at myself, and every single day,

02:11 I would look at it and just say,

02:12 "Before I turn 30, I will have sold a business,

02:16 "and I will have achieved my dreams,

02:18 "and this is what my life will be like,"

02:20 and got into action.

02:22 Started a business, people thought I was crazy,

02:25 and I just kept pressing forward, pressing forward,

02:28 and within two years, right before I turned 30,

02:32 I sold the whole company before I turned 30,

02:34 exactly like the tattoo stated.

02:36 What I never would have expected in a million years

02:40 was that it felt so empty, and it felt so empty

02:43 because I didn't have anybody to enjoy it with.

02:46 I was by myself.

02:48 It was just me.

02:51 I started crying, and I started thinking that

02:54 I can't believe that I don't feel fulfilled by this.

02:59 I need to figure out why I feel this way,

03:02 and I said, "Well, I want love."

03:05 After all this time, my greatest desire is love.

03:08 I want to find the person that just lights me up

03:13 and we're able to make each other happy.

03:17 We're able to just start a family together.

03:20 I want to feel that unconditional love,

03:23 so I just started writing.

03:24 I just started writing and writing all of the things

03:26 that I wanted, dark hair and green eyes

03:29 and the most beautiful woman that I've ever seen in my life,

03:32 and I made that declaration, and I made that commitment.

03:35 I'm going to be engaged in the next 12 months

03:37 and read the letter every single day.

03:39 When I'd come home from a blind date

03:43 that was a total disaster, I would read that letter.

03:48 When I'd come home after getting catfished,

03:51 I would read that letter.

03:52 I just had this full faith that it was going to happen.

03:56 Fast forward in February, just a few months later,

03:59 it was a completely random situation

04:02 where I picked up my phone and the Tinder app was open,

04:06 and from a picture, from just one photo,

04:11 I literally knew that this woman would be my wife.

04:14 Everything I had written about in my letter,

04:16 the dark hair, the green eyes, all of these things,

04:19 being so beautiful, and we went out on our first date.

04:22 When we met, it was like everything

04:25 that I had seen in the movies.

04:27 It was like we just stopped.

04:29 You know that look where you look at each other

04:31 and it's almost like your head kind of tilts a little bit?

04:34 Our connection was instant.

04:36 Our conversation was so deep and so connected so fast.

04:41 I mean, it was like we've known each other our whole lives.

04:43 All the things I'd written about in the letter

04:45 about getting engaged, all of these things were in motion,

04:49 happening faster than I ever thought possible.

04:51 You know, from that, we just kept progressing

04:53 until I ended up proposing, and I just thought to myself,

04:56 I made it, I made it.

04:59 This is what my mother saw in me.

05:01 This is what I have been dreaming about

05:03 since I was a little boy.

05:04 I made it.

05:06 What an experience that anything is possible in life,

05:10 that you can change your way of being,

05:12 that you can grow your confidence,

05:14 that anything's possible.

05:15 I declared that I was gonna build and sell a company.

05:17 I declared that I was going to find the love of my life.

05:20 When you've got something that you want

05:22 and you're willing to sacrifice

05:24 and never, ever let off the gas pedal,

05:26 no matter what the circumstance is,

05:28 it doesn't matter who you are,

05:30 it doesn't matter where you grew up,

05:31 it doesn't matter what your current situation is,

05:33 it doesn't matter if you're in debt,

05:34 it doesn't matter what's going on around you,

05:37 that any human being can set their eyes

05:41 on a vision for their life.

05:42 Every time that you speak your vision with your words

05:44 out loud to other human beings,

05:46 you're inflating it with hope,

05:48 you're inflating it with belief,

05:50 and you're inflating it with possibility,

05:52 that you will make it happen.

05:54 And when the world or when someone

05:56 tries to take that dream away,

05:57 when someone else comes at you and says,

05:59 "It's never gonna happen,"

06:00 you can take that and leverage it,

06:02 and you can say, "I can, I will, watch me."
