A murder investigation is underway following a fatal stabbing in Toxteth on Sunday. Three people sustained stab and slash wounds during an incident inside a communal area of a block of flats on Upper Warwick Street. A 28-year-old man - was pronounced dead at hospital, and a post-mortem will take place to establish the cause of death.

A quarter of people in Liverpool hospitals are taking up beds and do not need to be there, a health committee has been told. Currently, 25% of people in beds at Liverpool hospitals are "medically fit" yet have nowhere else to go, owing to pressures around the social care system.


The Department for Education has praised improvements in Children and Young People's Services following its damning review earlier this year, which found its services for young people to be "inadequate". Officials found that the Council has already made "positive steps on its improvement journey" and are "encouraged" by the progress so far.
