00:00 This is Brent Cross West Station, the first brand new mainline station in London for a decade.
00:07 The station has taken about £400 million in three years to build and the first trains will start to call here on Sunday.
00:15 Down to the south is St Pancras, to the north is St Albans and Luton.
00:20 This station will be served by up to eight Thameslink trains an hour.
00:24 Lots of trains, near metro service for passengers, serving one airport directly and seven London stations with underground connections.
00:34 It is so easy to use with tickets, so our gates that are here will take Oyster or Contactless, they'll also take barcode tickets as well.
00:43 And this station is zone 3, so actually travel is very reasonable.
00:47 The station has been designed to cope with up to 5.5 million passengers a year, although it could be some years before it reaches capacity.
00:56 We wanted Brent Cross to be more of a shopping centre, we wanted it to be a place to come, a place to live, a place to play sport.
01:03 To have a new cinema, to have new libraries, to have new activities.
01:07 We wanted it to be an up and coming place, an important part of London.
01:13 Preparations are nearly complete, but as you can see behind me there are plenty of workmen still hard at it getting the station ready for the grand opening on Sunday.
01:23 Now Thameslink has also enrolled one of Barnet's most famous residents, the DJ and broadcaster Tony Flankburn,
01:31 who has done a special voiceover announcement informing passengers up and down this line that the station will be open come Sunday morning.
