00:00 Hello, PEP Stars! It's Nik Soriano, founder of Nik's Institute of Beauty,
00:03 the official makeup team of Miss Universe Philippines.
00:06 And welcome to PEP Masterclass.
00:08 So we have Rachel here from the PEP editorial team,
00:15 and we're going to do a K-drama inspired makeup,
00:19 but make it Filipino weather ready.
00:21 [music]
00:32 The problem sometimes when we do Korean inspired makeup here in the Philippines,
00:36 we also copy every product that they use,
00:39 which are often the heavily moisturizing products or heavily moisturizing foundations.
00:45 Now, here's the catch.
00:46 It doesn't usually work well with the Philippine weather.
00:49 Why?
00:50 Because it's very hot here most of the time,
00:52 and the majority of Filipinos are actually quite oily.
00:56 So you combine those with that type of foundation or type of makeup,
01:00 they often don't adhere well here in our country.
01:04 So every base that I place on her are actually something that would work well
01:08 with our country and with our weather.
01:10 If you're oily, I would lean towards something that is mattifying.
01:14 Matte primers, matte foundations,
01:17 and then I set with a setting powder, which sometimes looks very dry.
01:21 It doesn't look Korean, right?
01:23 What I can do and what I can give you as a tip is we're going to fake it.
01:28 So we're going to fake that glow.
01:30 So everything was matte here, so we're going to go in with our highlighters.
01:35 So we're going to fake their glow.
01:40 So we're going to go through the highlighters.

01:48 So after our highlighter, here's one major tip that I can give.
01:52 When everything is matte, when everything is powdery,
01:55 we are going to drench her with a mist.
01:58 Close.
01:58 [MUSIC PLAYING]
02:03 Since everything is powdery, the blush was powder, the contour was powder,
02:08 and then all their foundation and the primer was mattifier.
02:12 By misting everything up, all the powdery parts will melt,
02:16 leaving you with that sort of hint of glow
02:19 that you would want to achieve the glass-like skin.
02:22 To make it even more Korean-looking, so we went for the subtle eyes.
02:25 Usually, Korean looks are very light-looking eyes
02:29 with a bit of glitter or more glitter.
02:31 And then the lips, we usually go with something
02:34 that is a bit more on the brighter side.
02:36 But if you notice, I didn't use a lip liner on her.
02:39 [SPEAKING IN TAGALOG]
02:42 And then the colors are mostly concentrated in the middle,
02:46 followed by a gloss.
02:47 So very Korean-looking.
