00:02 - Peter and the Starcatcher is the prequel to Peter Pan.
00:06 So it's the story before the story that we all know
00:09 about how Peter, who in this story is a nameless boy,
00:13 came to be the famous boy who never grew up.
00:16 - This is the first time that Peter and the Starcatcher
00:19 has ever been staged in Australia.
00:21 It's a very successful Broadway production
00:23 that's toured all over America
00:25 and Dead Puppet Society is lending our stage magic
00:28 to this production for the first time.
00:31 - Ultimately, Peter and the Starcatcher is a story
00:34 about the telling of stories.
00:36 And one of the things that's so compelling about this work
00:38 is the sheer variety of forms that are used within it.
00:41 - The actors really have to play many different roles.
00:45 You know, sometimes the actors are narrators,
00:48 sometimes they're sailors on a ship,
00:50 sometimes they're bodies of water.
00:52 And I feel like the movement in so many different ways
00:56 helps us move between these different worlds
00:59 and these different characters,
01:00 which I think adds to the magic of the show.
01:03 - Taking Wayne Barker's original music
01:06 and expanding it for the larger force of musicians
01:09 that we have.
01:10 So fun to be actually in the middle of the action
01:12 instead of off in a pit.
01:13 Part of that is integrating the music more into the action.
01:16 Like I'm on stage for most of the show.
01:19 - The lighting's fascinating because it brings up night sky.
01:24 It brings up ideas of stars.
01:27 It brings up a whole lot of ideas
01:28 that directly relate to light.
01:30 Having the opportunity to be there
01:32 sort of from the start of how the design's evolving
01:35 and how the show's coming about
01:37 is a really unique and amazing thing.
01:39 - We've really picked up the playfulness
01:41 and the joy of the telling of stories
01:43 that's inherent in this script
01:45 and are throwing pretty much everything we've got
01:48 in our theater making toolkit at it.
01:50 Audiences can expect a night of fun,
01:52 a very touching story about two kids falling in love.
01:56 Beautiful creature puppets.
01:57 - It's magical.
01:59 - It's for anybody that has an imagination.
02:01 - An experience for an audience
02:02 which is literally gonna take them to another world.
