00:00 67-year-old Yoscorro Inanoria has been one of the cocheros of horse-drawn carriages or
00:06 tartanilia in Cebu City for the past 50 years.
00:10 He is one of the 35 remaining cocheros of the city.
00:13 In the past, there were over a hundred of them that were tagged as kings of the road
00:17 in the old Cebu district.
00:29 Inanoria earns between 300 to 500 pesos a day but still has to pay 150 pesos as rental
00:35 for the horse and the carriage.
00:37 The tartanilias was once a prominent mode of transportation in Cebu City since the Spanish
00:41 colonial times.
00:43 They ply the routes from the port of Cebu to the barangays of Parian and Tabuan as well
00:47 as the streets of Sanchanco and Colon.
00:50 Since the 1990s, their routes have been limited near Carbon Market and Barangay Duljo to make
00:56 way for modern transportation.
00:57 To preserve history, the local government launched Tartanilia sa Kilum-Kilum or Tartanilia
01:03 at Night for tourists who want to visit heritage sites downtown.
01:08 In the morning, these carriages only ply from the public market to Barangay Duljo.
01:12 "One way to preserve our tradition, right?

01:42 LED lights were also installed.
01:44 Even the cocheros were dressed up in costumes."
02:11 From 7 until 11pm, the Tartanilias can bring tourists to Freedom Park, Magalans Cross,
02:17 Plaza Independencia, and Fort San Pedro for only 50 pesos.
02:21 The local government plans to continue the program throughout the year and even has a
