Robinhood, the online investment app, announced it will launch in the UK in early 2024. This will be its third attempt to expand internationally. In the UK, Robinhood will allow trading of 6,000 US stocks and ETFs with 24/7 access outside of regular market hours. It will not offer UK stocks or derivatives like options at launch. Robinhood sees the UK as an important market and hopes to become one of the largest employers in England one day. The launch will face competition from existing UK trading platforms like eToro. Customer funds will have FDIC insurance rather than UK financial protection.
