Work and Pensions Secretary Mel Stride welcomed the Government's latest tax cuts, saying it will be a "driver of people into employment." The chancellor is cutting the main rate of national insurance contributions paid by workers from 12% to 10%, which he said would benefit 27 million people. He also announced changes to the national insurance paid by those who are self-employed. Report by Kennedyl. 00:00 Well as I say, we need to make sure that work really pays and the Chancellor had important
00:04 things to say about the National Insurance cut of 2p off National Insurance.
00:09 Now that'll be worth to the average worker about £480 per year and is a tax cut for
00:15 27 million people and that will be a driver of people into employment.
00:20 And the second thing is to get those wage levels up so the National Living Wage increasing
00:24 by around 10% from April will be a huge help too.
