The M6 was forced to close following a collision near Gravelly Hill Interchange with street furniture. West Midlands Police were called to the M6 northbound carriageway near to junctions 6 and 5 just after 2am on Wednesday. Officers are appealing for information.

A man from Birmingham has been jailed after a burglary in Smethwick earlier this year. Wayne Greene, from Quinton, broke into a property on May 25 and stole three laptops and a silver BMW. He was jailed for two years and eight months at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

West Midlands Police seized more than 1,000 illegal vapes as well as high-strength alcohol during a community operation in Erdington on Tuesday. Police also recovered a knife which was found discarded in a nearby park.
