00:19 Chrysler Group's Jeep division broke through the 2006 North American Auto Show with an

00:24 all new Jeep Wrangler.

00:26 Jeep Trends' Mark Williams has the details.

00:30 Jeep showed an all new Jeep Wrangler here and to Jeep fans, this is incredibly important.

00:37 This is a vehicle that essentially is an icon.

00:39 It's their oldest Jeep model.

00:41 It's the vehicle that people look to when they think of a Jeep.

00:46 This new vehicle may not look that much different, but it's 100% from the ground up all new.

00:52 The nose has been a little bit shaved in.

00:54 There's a little slant to the front grill, to the windshield.

00:58 All of those improvements have been done to improve fuel economy and it's got a brand

01:02 new 3.8 liter V6 engine, a first for the Wrangler model.

01:08 The all new Wrangler obviously is still going to be a hard core trail performer, but where

01:12 Jeep had to make significant improvements is on pavement.

01:17 That's where most vehicles are driven.

01:18 So they've widened the track, extended the wheel base, sharpened up the suspension tuning

01:24 and made it a vastly improved ride for people who are driving it on the pavement.

01:29 Another interesting feature that's going to be especially cool for a lot of hard core

01:32 trail riders is the electronically disconnectable sway bar.

01:37 It's on the front sway bar at the push of a button, it disconnects it so when you're

01:41 at the trail head, now you have extreme suspension flexibility which is going to be a huge thing

01:47 when you've got some big boulders in front of you on the trail.

01:50 With more standard power than ever before, with a significantly improved interior and

01:54 a much stiffer frame, this looks like it could be the best Wrangler ever.
