00:00 Chevrolet in Europe, that's General Motors latest idea for globalization to bring that

00:15 brand, make it a big brand in Europe.

00:17 And one step toward that is to show concept vehicles like this Chevrolet Orlando.

00:22 This is a small minivan, MPV type of vehicle.

00:26 It fits in the same category as General Motors own Opel Zafira.

00:31 It's that size, small, compact on the outside, but lots of room on the inside with three

00:36 rows of seating.

00:37 So far General Motors is saying that it has no plans to bring a vehicle like the Chevrolet

00:42 Orlando to the United States, even though it would probably make a good Saturn as well

00:47 as a Chevrolet.

00:48 Now with gas prices continuing to be an issue in the United States, of course, that may

00:53 quickly change.

00:55 Now another new Chevy at the Paris Auto Show is this Cruze Compact.

00:59 This is a car that you've heard a lot about back in the United States.

01:02 This car will replace the Cobalt in the 2010 calendar year, 2011 model year.

01:07 The interesting thing is that Europe will get this car before we do, about a year before

01:11 we do.

01:12 And as you can see from the interior, it's a pretty nice looking car.

01:16 It's a little bit bigger than the Cobalt, mostly it's much wider than the Cobalt.

01:20 So it fits in the upper end of the compact segment.

01:23 In Europe they'll have three choices of engines, a 1.6 and 1.8 liter gas four cylinder engine,

01:29 plus a 1.9 liter turbo diesel.

01:31 In the United States we'll have one new engine coming for this car, a 1.4 liter gas direct

01:37 injected light turbocharged four cylinder engine.

01:41 It's supposed to get more than 40 miles to the gallon on the highway.

01:44 So Chevrolet in Europe, will it work?

01:46 Well of course General Motors has had Vauxhall and Opel in Europe for a long, long time.

01:51 Now Saab as well.

01:53 Chevy would be at the low end of that price scale versus Opel and Vauxhall.

01:57 And of course a big brand in Europe and its cars are highly regarded here.

02:02 So Chevy's got a shot, but it also has a long way to go.
