00:27 Seddon have been a real living wage
00:54 We've certainly got less absences amongst the staff and they definitely feel valued
01:02 and when we have our monthly KPIs that's demonstrated with the scoring.
01:07 So since we are a real living wage employer we've noticed that our recruitment is better,
01:12 the staff turnover on the sites is better, clients have recognised the better quality of officer.
01:18 Our staff retention for the business is 92.7% so for the industry as a whole that's absolutely outstanding.
01:28 Now I've been in the security industry 23 years and for ADEPT we literally strive to be better than everybody else.
01:36 Since we've paid the real living wage we've noticed that the answers on the Employee Engagement Survey
01:42 that we run every single year have become less about wages and more about working environment.
01:48 In fact people are no longer asking for more wages, they're asking for better machinery,
01:53 they want to make a difference in their own departments and improve things
01:57 and innovation has actually improved right across the board, right from production
02:02 all the way through to the way we deliver to our customers.
02:05 Being paid the real living wage makes me more engaged and productive.
02:08 I feel positive about going above and beyond for an organisation that values me financially.
02:14 The real living wage is a commitment to people which creates a culture of fairness and transparency.
02:19 I stay with Seddon not only for the fair wages but the other benefits they offer
02:23 such as Seddon Saving and the Helping Hand Fund during the cost of living crisis.
02:28 It's made a massive difference because I can focus on working my hours and taking the necessary time off
02:33 and not have to worry about chasing overtime.
02:35 This way I can take the time off to rest which in turn boosts my productivity at the workplace.
02:39 It gives us a reason to perform to the best of our abilities.
02:43 I feel like I respect my employers because I feel like by paying us the real living wage
02:49 I want to commit more to my job, I want to explore more options to progress in the company.
02:54 I feel like my organisation does care about me, it's clear that they care about others
02:59 and I see that in my daily relationship with my co-workers.
03:03 If you look elsewhere you can see that the industry standard is a lot less.
03:09 I'd rather stay at my company because they pay me what I believe I am worth.
03:14 So when we started offering the real living wage six years ago
03:19 we've seen a 100% retention rate with people within that salary band and that for us is amazing.
03:24 That has had a real impact.
03:26 It's also great for wellness since the cost of living crisis.
03:31 Why would people leave the business when they're being looked after from a real living wage perspective?
03:37 It's people first for adept, we're paying the real living wage,
03:41 we're a real living hours employer as well and we want to be better
03:46 and lead the industry to what the expectations and standards should be.
03:50 It's to do with actually building relationships and it makes a difference long term.
03:55 You get more sales, you get more innovation, you have better productivity, better profit
04:00 and we found that when we introduced the living wage to Cars Pasties.
04:05 But if they really want to make a difference to change their business
04:07 living wage is a great place to start.
