Four Men Arrested in Theft of Gold Toilet Valued at $6M Stolen. Toilet Remains Missing
  • 6 months ago
Four men have been arrested in connection with the theft of an 18-karat solid gold toilet, valued at over $6 million, from Blenheim Palace in England. Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan created a fully functional 18-karat gold toilet titled "America" that was installed at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City as part of an art installation commenting on excess and the American dream. Over 100,000 museum guests across all economic brackets were allowed to use the toilet. The toilet sculpture was installed at Winston Churchill's birthplace in England in 2019 as part of an exhibition but was stolen just two days after the exhibit opened. The toilet has not been recovered and some believe it may have been melted down or disposed of by now.
