Tube, tram and bus fares in London may be restructured to reflect changing journey times, Sadiq Khan has said, as he stresses the importance of having “a fair fare system” in the capital.

00:09 We've got the cheapest bus travel in the country,

00:11 which is remarkable bearing in mind how expensive

00:13 London is compared to the other parts of the country.

00:16 We've got caps on our fares.

00:18 We are looking at though,

00:19 the different journey times people take.

00:21 So what was historically a rush hour,

00:24 it's actually a rush hour,

00:25 but it's Monday to Thursday,

00:27 busier weekends and evenings, London is back.

00:30 And so we are looking at how we can make sure

00:33 that we continue to have a fair system.

00:38 We know for example, poor Londoners use bus and tram more.

00:42 So we deliberately focused on bus and tram,

00:44 but we are looking at issues around

00:46 tubes and overground as well.
