00:00 It's so rare to see a movie where people with disabilities are represented and at the forefront.
00:05 I was wondering for you behind the scenes, what went into bringing this cast together?
00:10 Well, you know, it was from the original Spanish movie "Camp Leones" and we were very moved by the way they played that,
00:18 bringing all these people with disabilities together on a basketball team.
00:22 It was very funny and they captured it in a way where you're not laughing at the people, you're laughing with them.
00:27 So what we wanted to do was just get a well-rounded cast of people that love basketball, are disabled, but also had the ability to act.
00:38 A lot of them had never acted, but they had to audition for us on tape and they were all terrific.
00:44 Each one of them really shined.
00:46 Can you think of a moment when you were in the audition process where you realized that a specific actor was like, you had to have them in the movie?
00:56 Every one of those actors had their moment in the audition.
00:59 One of the actors is a guy named Casey Metcalf and Casey lives up in Vermont and when he auditioned for the role,
01:09 he didn't have a basketball to hold onto, but he lives on a chicken farm, so he was holding a chicken in his hand and that was his prop, the basketball.
01:20 It just made us laugh so much that we thought, we have to work Casey into the movie and that was a good move because he brought us so many laughs.
01:29 He was always doing funny things like that, very creative, but each one stood out.
01:35 If they didn't, they wouldn't have got the part because they had to stand out amongst hundreds and hundreds of people applying for the part.
