SPOILER WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for The Conjuring: Last Rites. If you have not yet seen the film, proceed at your own risk!

When a long journey comes to a conclusion, be it via a graduation, retirement, or any such era-ender, it’s customary to have a celebration including the people who helped made that journey special – and Conjuring: Last Rites is a film that brings that tradition to the big screen. The 2025 movie will be remembered for being the last title to feature Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren, and its final scenes mark the occasion by featuring a collection of awesome cameos from stars of the franchise.

In the aftermath of helping the Smurl family banish the evil that has been residing in their home, the Warren family in The Conjuring: Last Rites gets to have a big celebration with the wedding of Judy Warren (Mia Tomlinson) and her fianceé Tony (Ben Hardy). As the camera pans over the collection of people in the church, there are a number of recognizable faces, and when I interviewed director Michael Chaves earlier this fall, he told me about how the franchise reunion came together.

00:00you do ultimately get a great collection of cameos, uh, for the wedding scene at the end
00:06of the movie. Uh, can you, and including James Wan, which also I happened to spot in the audience
00:11there. Uh, can you talk just about like, uh, putting that together and kind of just having
00:16that moment with everybody in one room? Yeah, I think that that was, you know, honestly, that was
00:22the, um, that was always there in the first, uh, the first draft and, you know, it was really
00:28important to one of our executives, Dave Neustetter, who was, um, that he doesn't get enough credit on
00:32the series, but he is really, um, he is such like, uh, an incredible ally and, and creative force in
00:40the series. And he really, you know, he'll come in with these kinds of great instincts. And he was
00:44like, we got to get everybody in there. We got to get everybody that we possibly can. We were
00:48shooting in England and he was like, we like anyone who's willing to travel, we got to get them over
00:52there. And so, um, we, uh, we brought as many people from the series as possible. We were trying
00:57to, um, we had an even wider net, but some people were working, we couldn't coordinate everything,
01:02but, um, I'm really happy with everybody that we got in there. And, you know, for a lot of the
01:07people, it was my first time meeting them. And so it was, it was such like, uh, it was like,
01:12I'm such a, I'm a fan of the series as well. So I was a total nerd, just like geeking out with them.
