00:18 So this is the longest democratic recession that we have seen in all of
00:21 the years that we have been collecting data.
00:24 This trend, which is declines in all of our measures of democracy,
00:28 is affecting every single region of the world.
00:31 It's not just autocracies or
00:34 countries where there's been state collapse or coups in sub-Saharan Africa.
00:38 But we're also seeing declines in really historically
00:42 high performing democracies in Europe, in North America, and in Asia.
00:45 We've seen declines in countries like Austria, in Germany,
00:50 here in Sweden, a decline in public participation in politics,
00:54 South Korea, Canada, the United States.
00:57 So there really is not any area of the world that has gone unaffected.
