Tara, Laro Tayo Pop-up Playbook, layuning ma-preserba at mai-promote pa ang mga tradisyonal na larong Filipino
Transcript
00:00 In this day and age, kids spend more time on computers, cellphones, and other gadgets.
00:08 A group of college students thought of making a pop-up playbook
00:15 that contains different traditional Filipino games.
00:18 And we will be joining them here to introduce their book,
00:21 Flourmay Cruz, Edward Francisco, and Robby Guenano.
00:25 Good morning to you all. Welcome to Rise and Shine Philippines.
00:28 Good morning.
00:29 These kids are good at graphics.
00:33 These are our future graphic artists.
00:35 Can you explain to us what this "Let's play a pop-up playbook" is?
00:40 And what are the contents of this?
00:42 So, our pop-up playbook contains 22 selected traditional Filipino games
00:50 that were based on our survey.
00:54 The first one we got are the not so popular ones or the ones that are played on parties.
01:01 Okay.
01:02 And also the classics.
01:04 So what are the games? Let's take a look.
01:06 Okay, here.
01:07 We have a ball.
01:09 So when you flip it, it has instructions on how you will play it.
01:17 Not only that, because you can see the image or the picture of how it really is when it's playing.
01:24 I can't open it, I might break it.
01:26 Oh, that's so good.
01:28 "You can play this."
01:30 In fairness to her, so per game, it will happen on one book.
01:35 "It's on one page."
01:37 It's on one page.
01:38 This one, I think I know this one.
01:40 This is when you have a love, hate or crush.
01:44 This is on the paper, right?
01:46 Am I right or am I wrong?
01:48 "It's on one word that they can play."
01:51 Okay, and this one, what is this? Open.
01:54 "Yes, but that's for their game."
01:57 Oh, this is for your game on your love.
02:01 So you can play this on your own.
02:03 "Yes, you can."
02:04 That's so good.
02:05 Well, you made this as a part of your thesis.
02:08 You're also graduating next year, right?
02:11 "Yes, sir."
02:12 Why did you think of this concept of book?
02:14 What are the challenges that you went through to make your pop-up playbook alive?
02:20 "The first thing we thought of was what game, I mean, what topic we would connect to."
02:30 "We have four people, so the first thing we thought of was what..."
02:33 Where's the other one? I don't think he's joining your thesis.
02:36 "No, he's in another country."
02:38 Oh, I'm sorry. Go ahead.
02:40 "What we talked about was what we usually do when we were kids."
02:48 "We would play on the streets with our friends."
02:52 "That's what we miss."
02:54 "That's where we started."
02:56 So you relapsed all of a sudden.
02:58 "Yes."
02:59 What's your favorite game, Robby?
03:02 "My favorite game is Luksong Baka."
03:07 Luksong Baka.
03:08 So you won't be doing Luksong Baka here.
03:10 "Yes."
03:11 Instructions.
03:12 "Just a part of it. And because of the pop-up, there are motions."
03:16 "Oh, okay."
03:17 "The kids will really be entertained when they see the pop-up."
03:20 That's great, because we included the importance of traditional games, applying it in today's time with popular culture.
03:27 Why do you think traditional Filipino games need to be preserved, protected, and promoted more?
03:35 Go ahead.
03:36 "Of course, because we are Filipinos, it's our duty to preserve our culture."
03:44 "So that the next generation won't forget it."
03:48 "Because the youth are addicted to gadgets."
03:53 "And of course, it's beneficial for our health."
03:56 "So this is also a way for the kids to exercise."
04:01 "To exercise, to sweat."
04:03 "And of course, it's free. You won't have to spend anything."
04:08 "So that's also the reason."
04:10 Currently, this is what you will present for your defense.
04:13 "Yes."
04:14 But in any cases, do you have any plans to publish this so that more people can benefit from it and read it?
04:20 "If ever, we're accepting if someone is willing to invest in our book after we finally defend our thesis."
04:31 "Other than that, we're just using pocket money for this one."
04:35 Okay. I hope many people will be enticed and will join and help you with this.
04:41 What are the games that you're planning?
04:43 Because I understand that you have 22 games in your survey, right?
04:48 Or you asked them to submit 22 games?
04:50 "We selected 22 games out of the survey."
04:53 Okay. So what are the other games that you expect to do here?
04:58 "As mentioned earlier, we have Luxembourg, SIPA, Tagu-Taguan."
05:05 "And then, we have games that we haven't been able to pop up yet."
05:10 Why Tagu-Taguan? It's like you're teaching a kid how to play Ghost.
05:14 "No, we're not."
05:15 Don't be like that.
05:16 But maybe there are publishing houses that are interested in helping you publish your book.
05:23 How can they reach you?
05:25 "We have a Facebook page. The title is 'Tara Laro Tayo'."
05:30 "They can contact us through Messenger and we're very responsive when it comes to games."
05:36 Good luck to your defense, to our future graphic artists,
05:41 and of course, to the beauty of the art here in our country and the whole world.
05:47 Their playbook pop-ups are so beautiful.
05:50 So let's support them.
05:52 Thank you so much for being with us this morning.
05:55 Flora Mae, Edward, and Robbie, stay safe and congratulations.
05:59 "Thank you."
