ACT teacher Sam Davies has featured in a national advertising campaign to highlight the value and importance of teaching and to encourage more people to become teachers.

00:00 So I had a student in my year nine class, Kira,

00:02 who maybe school wasn't her favorite thing.

00:05 She made it her mission to cause as much trouble

00:08 potentially in the class as possible.

00:10 I get that, I was a kid too, and that can be really fun.

00:13 Just recently when I was leaving that school,

00:15 she gave me a certificate,

00:17 which she obviously found very funny,

00:19 awarded to Mr. David, which is still a bit of a joke

00:22 'cause my name's Mr. Davies.

00:23 This is for surviving Kira

00:25 and all the attitude and craziness throughout 9D.

00:28 And she said, "Sorry, dated on my birthday and signed."

00:31 (laughs)

00:33 I was really proud of myself

00:34 for always treating her with respect and dignity.

00:37 And she recognized that I'd done that.

00:40 This is a young person saying,

00:42 "I knew that you cared about me."

00:44 This is incredible.

00:46 If life is about creating meaningful moments,

00:51 you get a meaningful moment

00:52 every single day in this profession.
