00:02 - Hi, I'm Dr. Leslie Gonzalez,
00:07 and today we're talking about cold, cough, and flu season,
00:10 which is upon us,
00:11 and we know children get sick easily and often.
00:15 One thing you could do to support your immune system
00:17 is by taking vitamins
00:18 and improving your child's bedtime routine.
00:20 To help little ones transition to bedtime,
00:23 I recommend solutions with effective and wholesome ingredients
00:26 like calming chamomile and natural honey,
00:28 which can be found in Sarby's
00:30 children's gentle bedtime products.
00:32 What's great is they come in multiple formats
00:34 like a melatonin-free gummy and a syrup.
00:37 Sarby's also offers a calming, gentle bedtime room spray
00:41 with lavender and chamomile,
00:43 which helps kids relax and unwind as they prepare
00:45 for bedtime.
00:47 But sometimes, despite our best efforts,
00:48 our kids still get sick,
00:50 which is important that you should talk to your doctor.
00:54 One of my favorite hacks that I like to recommend
00:56 if your child is experiencing a cough
00:58 is you turn your bathroom into a steam room
01:00 since warm, moist air can help clear nasal pathways
01:04 and even relieve discomfort.
01:06 If your child is experiencing a fever,
01:07 the good news is there are a lot of different ways
01:10 to treat it.
01:11 First, you can use a cold compress to cool their body,
01:14 and remember to give them lots of fluids
01:16 to avoid dehydration.
01:18 Then there are two ingredients that can reduce a fever,
01:21 acetaminophen and ibuprofen.
01:23 Acetaminophen can be found in medicines
01:25 like children's Tylenol or infant's Tylenol.
01:28 These products can start to reduce a fever
01:30 in as little as 15 minutes.
01:32 Ask a doctor before using infant's Tylenol
01:35 if your child is under two years of age.
01:37 And what's helpful is that these medicines
01:39 come in various formats from liquids and flavors
01:41 like grape, cherry, or bubble gum,
01:44 to the salt packs or even chewables.
01:47 Ibuprofen can be found in children's and infant's Motrin,
01:49 and in addition to reducing a fever,
01:52 children's Motrin can relieve minor aches and pains
01:54 and last up to eight hours.
01:56 Always make sure you read and follow the product label
01:58 before use for important product information.
02:02 When we get sick, just like kids,
02:04 if you're experiencing a fever,
02:06 consider acetaminophen or ibuprofen.
02:09 For fast pain relief,
02:10 I like to recommend Tylenol rapid release gels,
02:13 which contain acetaminophen.
02:15 If you're experiencing a runny nose or sneezing,
02:18 it can be either from a cold or an allergy.
02:22 Allergy symptoms usually flare up
02:23 when you're exposed to allergens
02:24 that you're most sensitive to and cause symptoms
02:27 such as itchy eyes, nose, or throat.
02:30 Make sure to pay attention
02:31 to when you experience these symptoms
02:33 so you can identify the allergens that bother you.
02:35 With a cold, people experience a wet cough
02:39 or a potentially runny fever.
02:42 Allergies don't cause fevers,
02:43 so that's the main difference to look for.
02:46 The good news is the ingredient diphenhydramine
02:48 can relieve a runny nose or sneezing,
02:51 whether from an allergy or the common cold.
02:54 This effective allergy and cold relief
02:57 can be found in Benadryl allergy ultratabs,
03:00 which are effective day or night.
03:02 Also look for a decongestant like pseudoephedrine
03:05 that targets sinus pressure and congestion.
03:08 This can be found in products like Zyrtec-D
03:10 and Sudafed Sinus Congestion.
03:13 You can find them behind your local pharmacy counter.
03:16 For more information on ingredients, dosing, and tips
