Singapore and Malaysia have agreed to strengthen cooperation on renewable energy, says Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

Lee said at a joint press conference with his Malaysian counterpart Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Monday (Oct 30), while Anwar said Malaysia has given its commitment to supply renewable energy as Singapore has increased investments in Malaysia, including through the setting up of data centres.

00:05 and we are pursuing cross-border electricity trading, which will be a win-win for both countries.
00:10 And the renewable energy potentially can come from both Peninsular Malaysia as well as from East Malaysia.
00:18 And on the renewable energy, of course there will be a commitment on the part of Malaysia to supply,
00:25 because it would be of immense help. That is one of the reasons why we have increased investments into Malaysia,
00:34 including data centres being set up, and our commitment to accelerate the proposal by Sarawak
00:44 to export energy to Indonesia and, in this case, to Singapore, which we have agreed.
