00:00 In Venezuela, the president of the National Assembly has announced the fraud, the recent
00:13 fraudulent elections held by the opposition.
00:18 In Palestine, humanitarian organizations warn that the hospital system is on the verge of
00:22 collapse as a result of the rally of the government.
00:27 In the United States, local authorities report irregular water levels in the Mississippi
00:32 River.
00:35 Hello, welcome to Fundersouth.
00:42 I'm Anais Rosabal from the Television Studios in Havana, Cuba, beginning with the news.
00:47 The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, has arrived on Tuesday in Beijing, the capital
00:53 of China, where he will hold a meeting with his counterpart, Xi Jinping.
00:57 The head of the States, who arrived along with the foreign minister, Abdullah Labadurán,
01:01 among other members of the cabinet, was welcomed with military honors by the ambassador of
01:06 Colombia in China and his counterpart in Bogota, Sergio Carrera and Su Xinjiang, and Cai, the
01:12 director general of the foreign minister for Latin America and the Caribbean, was also
01:16 present.
01:17 President Petro stressed the importance of advancing a multi-polar world and said that
01:22 part of the visit is focused on trade issues under the Belt and Road Initiative.
01:33 The Colombian president said that during the visit that he intends to bring some relief
01:37 to the exhausted economy inherited from his predecessor, Iván Duque.
01:41 As a result of a turn of debt policy during the COVID period, we have an over-indebtedness
01:48 that could be improved if the debt profile is improved in terms of payment times.
01:53 We have a short-term debt that is practically drawn in the finances in these three years
01:58 and that, if it is spotted as a long-term debt, could reduce those problems that the
02:02 national budget has today.
02:07 The Government of Venezuela rejects statements made by the Government of the COPE for the
02:11 Republic of Guyana regarding the consultative referendum for Venezuelans to address the
02:15 territory of the Cuivre.
02:17 In a statement, the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejects
02:22 the infamous and offensive declarations of the Government of the COPE for the Republic
02:26 of Guyana with respect to the consultative referendum scheduled for December 3, 2023.
02:32 Guyana statements, once again, are being drafted by the law firm employed by ExxonMobil, a
02:37 company that has conradicated the Latin American and Caribbean values of a nation and body
02:42 Guyana's political class, dragging them into an erratic course of action.
02:47 The statement also stresses that Venezuela, in accordance with the national law and the
02:51 principles enfranced in the Geneva Agreement of 1966, insists on urging the Guyanese government
02:57 to reset from its unilateral and subordinate actions to the transnational capital.
03:09 On Tuesday, the President of the National Assembly of Venezuela described as a "fraud"
03:13 the last fraud in the elections held by the opposition.
03:16 During the French conference, Jorge Rodriguez called the results of the opposition primaries
03:20 a "gigantic fraud" after solid regularities that violate the Venezuelan constitution and
03:25 the lack of verifiability of the results.
03:28 In a sense, Rodriguez mentioned that it is also a "fet of will" because there is
03:32 no way to prove the figures reported.
03:35 The President of the National Assembly also mentioned that those who orchestrated these
03:39 elections are also part of those who, in 2019, imposed an interim president in the country.
03:51 And Venezuela's Nelson Ramos Sá, the technical advisor for the opposition primary, said that
03:56 the number of voted is being sorted out of proportion.
04:01 The problem is, and this is what I'm saying, that more than 520,000 people didn't go
04:06 to vote at the event, and the numbers are being distorted to numbers that are unprecedented.
04:14 Then I would like to comment on the following question.
04:16 I didn't say that 478,000 people vote at a primary voting table.
04:23 I say the average, and the average is calculated by dividing the number of votes that Dr. Casals
04:29 says he has accumulated by the number of voting tables.
04:35 This is around 1,500,000 by 3,031 voting tables, that results to 478.
04:45 The average in each voting table should have been 478 votes.
04:52 But there were tables where 100 people could have voted, and in other tables there should
04:56 have been 800 or 1,000 people voting.
05:00 This is not true.
05:04 That's what I mean, and that in one minute to cast the vote.
05:11 All the statistics and the planners know that according to the line theory, that's not possible,
05:19 a single line for a table for 500 or 600 people to vote there.
05:26 That's not true.
05:29 And that is a cheat to the society.
05:35 Ron Persaud also mentioned that the political slogan of the upfront winner of the primaries
05:40 will lead the country to a new escalation of violence.
05:46 I would like to make an observation about this person and a warning to the country that
05:50 we should be vigilant through you until the end, which was his permanent voice.
05:57 It is not a simple electoral slogan, nor is it a mantra.
06:03 It is a political strategy.
06:10 Until the end means a process that is coming next, and many are saying it, are fighting
06:17 for its validation, its qualification as a candidate.
06:23 This is going to lead us again to an open confrontation with the regime in the streets,
06:29 with blood on the asphalt, as many of them like to see it.
06:51 After winning the first round of the presidential elections and heading to a run-off against
06:55 Lombardy and Malay, the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, announced a package of measures
07:00 to flatten economic activity and income.
07:03 The plan includes fixed non-remunerative sums as an amount of future increases and credit
07:08 for co-workers.
07:10 The Minister of Economy and candidate announced also a new dollar rate for exporters looking
07:15 to shorten the country's dollar reserves, one of the main concerns between now and November
07:20 19th.
07:21 He also commented on a new target to have a budget with a 1% surplus, as he plans to
07:26 eliminate subsidies and benefits for companies representing 5% of gross domestic product.
07:33 For his part, presidential candidate Liberty Advances has been delayed some months to mandate
07:38 all the sectors that want to get rid of Kirchnerism to join his party in the run-off election.
07:49 At his conference, Argentina's Minister of Economy and presidential candidate Sergio
07:52 Massa called for a government of national unity.
07:56 I think it's a mistake to say that the next period will be linked only to Peronism.
08:02 We are going to have a government of national unity.
08:05 I will summon the best of the different political forces, regardless of their origin.
08:11 Argentina has to stop being a chronic beggar of debt and become a supplier of labor.
08:18 The chairman of South Africa's Independent Electoral Commission, Masoro Mwipa, announced
08:23 the formal launch of the 2024 National and Provincial Election Campaign.
08:28 The launch will focus on final registrations, deadlines and requirements prior to the elections.
08:33 According to Mwipa, independent candidates will be able to stand, so the college should
08:37 be patient regarding the necessary legislative adjustments.
08:42 Going forward, the Commission will continue to strengthen the Civic and Voter Education
08:45 Initiative to ensure that voters are fully informed about the roles and responsibilities
08:50 in the upcoming elections.
08:52 The official pointed out that updated census figures indicate that more than 40 million
08:57 South Africans should be in an electoral roll.
08:59 However, only 26 million are listed.
09:03 The immediate task is to encourage a good number of South Africans who are not on the
09:06 electoral roll to make the vote count.

09:43 Welcome back.
09:44 In Palestine, humanitarian organizations warned that the hospital system is on the verge of
09:49 collapse as a result of a rally in Bahrain.
09:52 The Palestinian Health Minister reported that a lesson hospital has been stopped, functioning
09:57 in the last few days due to a lack of medical supplies and problems with power and water
10:01 services, which led medical personnel to worry well about their capacity.
10:06 Experts warned that the number of wounded in emergency rooms in Israeli aggression exceeds
10:11 16,000 people.
10:14 In view of the situation, they called on the international community to intervene so the
10:17 Israeli allows the entry of humanitarian aid.
10:21 According to health authorities, the number of fatal victims of the Israeli aggression
10:25 amounts to some 5,791, among them 2,360 children, 1,292 women and 295 elderly.
10:40 Amid a hospital crisis in Palestine this Tuesday, the Israeli occupation forces attacked the
10:45 vicinity of the Nasser Hospital in south of the Gaza Strip.
10:50 According to health authorities, patients and refugees in the hospital were being transferred
10:54 to other areas while efforts were underway to rescue the victims of this attack.
10:58 During the recent Israeli onslaught against Gaza, Tel Aviv is targeting residential buildings,
11:04 mosques and hospitals.
11:06 However, it justified these attacks as attempts to neutralize Hamas' Palestinian resistance
11:11 forces.
11:17 And amid a strong institutional and political crisis, Israeli invasion into the Gaza Strip
11:22 opens a new front to justify another delay.
11:25 According to Israeli media, the Defense Minister considered on Tuesday that they can delay
11:29 for a few days the invasion of Gaza in order to facilitate negotiations for the release
11:34 of numerous hostages, and they affirmed that Tel Aviv and Washington want to exhaust all
11:39 options to listen to Hamas' proposal on the 200 hostages.
11:44 Several critics of the occupation claim that the Minister of Defense has not prepared any
11:48 effective strategy for the operation, while Hamas confirmed on Tuesday that it has 35,000
11:54 soldiers at its disposal to fend off invaders.
12:02 The Israeli government will not authorize, under any circumstances, the entry of fuel
12:07 into Gaza, citing the death warrant for the hospital infrastructure in the Strip.
12:12 Marburg Jeff, senior advisor to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, confirmed this in an interview
12:17 to a U.S. media outlet.
12:19 Without providing evidence, he assured that the fuel that entered through the Rafah crossing
12:24 was stolen by Hamas militiamen.
12:26 However, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs confirmed
12:32 that none of the trucks that had entered Gaza were carrying fuel.
12:41 The Palestinian-Hamas movement released two hostages on humanitarian and medical ground
12:45 through ISIS mediation.
12:46 Authorities detailed that the hostages released are two women, 79 and 85 years old.
12:53 Israeli nationals captured them at the Gaza Strip on October 7.
12:56 Meanwhile, the International Committee of the Red Cross confirmed that it facilitated
13:01 the release of the two women captains and evacuated them out of Gaza.
13:05 At the same time, the ICRC confirmed to be ready to facilitate any future releases.
13:11 "We laid there on mattresses.
13:17 They really took care of the sanitation so we didn't get sick.
13:22 And we had a doctor who came every two or three days to see how we are doing.
13:27 The medic took care and made sure to give us medication.
13:32 They tried to talk politics but we said no politics.
13:35 We didn't want to get into politics with them.
13:38 We were their captive.
13:40 We didn't answer them.
13:42 But they talk about all kind of things.
13:44 They were very friendly with us.
13:47 They took care of all our needs.
13:49 I give them credit for that.
13:52 They were very courteous.
13:53 They made sure we were clean, that we ate.
13:56 We ate the same food they did."

14:17 Welcome back.
14:29 In the United States, local authorities reported that the Mississippi River, known as the water
14:46 highway of North America, is dangerously dry.
14:50 Experts confirmed that for the second year in a row, the water level of the largest river
14:54 in the U.S. has dropped to a historic loss amid a prolonged drought.
14:58 Recent studies indicate that the water crisis in the state of Louisiana is growing more
15:02 acute by the day and threatens a historic drinking water crisis as the saltwater from
15:07 the ocean moves upstream due to the river's wave flow.
15:11 Governor Colin Jones of the New Orleans office indicated that the contrary to the saltwater
15:15 intrusion, the Mississippi Valley would need 10 inches of precipitation.
15:20 However, the Climate Prediction Center forecasts this water winter's El Nino phenomenon could
15:25 make the northern plains and midwest drier than usual.
15:32 But we're begging for rain.
15:33 I mean, it's just crazy.
15:35 We need a good rain up north to get this river up and everybody would feel better.
15:40 Everybody, the farmers, everybody.
15:42 I mean, it's just, it's crazy how everything's happening right now.
15:46 This isn't something any of us want to see.
15:49 It's got the industry on its knees.
15:51 We're just barely functioning right now.
15:54 And if it were to fall another foot or two, that would probably close.
15:59 In the United States, at least seven people were killed early Monday morning in a 158-vehicle
16:05 accident on Understate's 55th and Louisiana State Police said in a statement.
16:10 Police said that more than 25 people were hospitalized with injury, the variants already
16:14 and many other victims went to medical facilities on their own.
16:18 According to authorities, the crash was generated by the lack of visibility caused by the fizz
16:23 fog and smoke from fires in the state's thousand wetlands.
16:27 After the crash, several cars caught fire and another vehicle went off the road and
16:31 fell into the water, but the driver was rescued.
16:35 A tanker truck also crashed and had to unload the dangerous liquid as it currently to the
16:39 damage to the trailers.
16:42 As a consequence of the accident, the police informed that the road will remain closed
16:46 unless until noon this Tuesday for the inspection of possible damages.
16:56 In eastern Bangladesh, rescue and recovery operations continued after a passenger train
17:00 collided with a cargo train in Bayarat city.
17:04 It's an official report that at least 17 killed and more than 100 others wounded after
17:08 the two trains collided.
17:10 Sadiqoui Rahman, a government administrator in Bayarat said the death toll was expected
17:15 to rise with rescue reporting they could see bodies rushed and travel under the overturned
17:20 coaches.
17:21 The collision happened at 3.30 p.m. local time and railway services were suspended throughout
17:26 the region following the accident.
17:29 It was not immediately clear what caused the accident.
17:38 The President of China, Xi Jinping, has signed on Tuesday a decree to dismiss Li Jianfu as
17:43 a State Counsellor and Minister of Defence, a position he has held since March this year,
17:49 local media reports.
17:50 For the moment, the reason for the dismissal of Li, who is last to appear on "Days Back
17:54 to Last August" during the 3rd China-Africa Peace and Security Forum held in Beijing,
17:59 are unknown.
18:00 The decree signed by Xi also includes the dismissal of former Foreign Minister of Qaingdan
18:04 State Counsellor Wang Qijian as Minister of Science and Technology, who will be replaced
18:09 by Jin Hedun, and Li Kang as Minister of Finance, whose position will be taken over by Lan Fohan.
18:16 The Santiago 2023 Pan American Games continue in Chile.
18:37 I will end up with the journalist Eduardo Regonesi.
18:40 Hi Eduardo.
18:43 What can you tell us about the latest...
18:46 Very very hot day here in Santiago.
18:48 The sun is hitting really really hard, but not as hard as Brazil was hitting this morning
18:55 when they won their baseball game 4-2 against Cuba.
19:00 Brazil having an amazing tournament here in Santiago, Chile, winning all three of their
19:05 games in the group stage and moving on to the second round of the tournament.
19:11 They will be joining Panama, who also won 3-0.
19:15 The other team that's going to be moving to the second round is Mexico, who had a 2-1
19:20 record and also make it to the second round.
19:23 We just finished a very very exciting game.
19:26 It was Colombia versus Venezuela.
19:29 It was an amazing match.
19:30 A lot of people on the stands and it was a big big upset.
19:34 Colombia defeated Venezuela.
19:37 Nobody was expecting that.
19:38 We all know Venezuela is one of the strongest teams in the continent and Colombia hadn't
19:43 won a game yet.
19:45 It was a lot on the line today because if Venezuela would have won, they would have
19:48 made it to the second round.
19:50 If Colombia won, and that's what happened, it produced a three-way tie between Cuba,
19:55 who by the way had a very very bad tournament.
19:57 It was Cuba, Venezuela and Colombia tied.
20:01 It was a triple tie.
20:03 And the way to see who was going to move forward, we had to look at the runs, the hits and by
20:07 the end, the information we have right now is that Colombia made it to the second round.
20:13 So Colombia joins Brazil, Panama, Mexico on the second round.
20:18 So very very good day for the Colombian team.
20:21 In other events this morning, Mexico and Bolivia had an amazing result in racquetball.
20:26 Something really peculiar happened here.
20:28 Both of the finals, the men and the women's finals, were played by just representatives
20:32 of one country.
20:34 On the women's side, both of the athletes were from Bolivia and on the men's side, both
20:40 of the athletes were from Mexico and on the men's side, both of the athletes were from
20:44 Bolivia.
20:45 So Bolivia and Mexico secured the gold and the silver in female and male racquetball.
20:51 In water ski, Chile got a silver and bronze medal early this morning.
20:56 Good day for the local team.
20:57 And as soon as we're done here, we're going to be walking across the street here in Cerrillos
21:02 to the sport climbing women's final.
21:05 Just so you know, out of the eight competitors, six are from the United States and Canada.
21:11 Three from the US, three from Canada and the remaining two, one from Argentina, one from
21:16 Chile.
21:17 So we're going to go there and support the Latin athletes that are going to be competing
21:22 later on tonight.
21:23 Of course, we are going to have all the details for you later on tomorrow or whenever you
21:30 call us.
21:31 I've just returned, so I cannot hear you guys.
21:33 So I'm going to say bye for now and go back with you in the studio.
21:38 Thank you, Eduardo Regonessi, for reporting for all from the Panamerican Games.
21:46 And we have come to the end of this news brief.
21:49 You can find this and many other stories on our website, battlesportenglish.net.
