00:00 The Premier Volleyball League is all set for its biggest tournament yet with the opening of the season-ending All-Filipino Conference.
00:06 A record number of 12 teams will battle for the crown bannered by the defending champions, Creamline Cool Smashers.
00:11 The team is gearing up for its biggest challenge yet with the departure of 8-time PBL best setter, Gia Morado, who is now playing as an import in the Japan V League.
00:20 In her absence, Creamline will be counting on another veteran setter in Kyle Negrito.
00:25 "The past conferences are challenges and struggles with injuries and how to be consistent.
00:33 But now, Gia's leadership and playmaking, we really miss that.
00:40 Aside from that, it's not a big adjustment because we've been with Kyle in training for the past 5 years."
00:48 With all teams eyeing a seat in the Final 4, others are also looking forward to a more leveled playing field.
00:53 The conference will also see the debut of two new teams, the Galeries Tower High Risers and the NextLeg Chameleons headed by Japanese coach and Jaja Santiago's husband, Taka Minowa.
01:03 "I want to be a coach here, but also I want to learn Filipino culture and how the Filipinos practice."
01:10 "One of the biggest learnings is the discipline. The discipline of the Japanese coach is different.
01:16 We know that we're a young team and it's something that will help us grow."
01:20 For the elimination round, all 12 teams will be playing in a single round-robin format, with the top 4 teams advancing to the best of 3 semis followed by the finals.
01:29 The PVL is also bringing the game closer to the fans with more out-of-town games.
01:34 "We're going to Batangas, there's Iloilo, there's Cagayan de Oro so far. We'll also play in Santa Rosa and Antipolo."
01:43 The PVL All-Filipino Conference will kick off with a triple header this Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum. Pauline Verzosa, CNN Philippines.
