00:00 Hi, I'm Chris and this is my exotic garden here in Wakefield.
00:13 So we moved here 10 years ago and the garden back then was just a long narrow lawn with
00:19 some dilapidated greenhouses at the bottom end and some overgrown garden vegetable plots
00:26 as well and then over the last 10 years we've gone about designing a tropical exotic garden
00:33 starting at the back and then working our way to the back of the house and developing
00:38 each bit stage by stage.
00:41 So this first part of the garden is quite open and then you get the full effect of looking
00:45 through the jungle part of the garden where you've got large bamboos and tree ferns and
00:51 you move down a winding path past a jungle hut to your right and a large giant rhubarb
00:57 to your left.
00:58 Then we go over a bridge where we've got the pond and stream and waterfall and then it
01:10 opens up into a bit more of an arid drier area with cacti and yuccas and then that then
01:17 turns into again a more jungle area with large bamboos at the end of the garden.
01:22 We really love being out in the garden all round the year but especially in the summer
01:28 months where we can sit in the jungle hut and enjoy being out surrounded by lots of
01:33 exotic looking plants and just relaxing in a space which is basically like feeling like
01:37 you're on holiday.
01:39 The children love it, they love playing hide and seek and running around the garden and
01:42 then myself and my wife love to just relax when we can on an evening.
