Transcript
00:00 The United Nations Security Council has held a closed-door session on the situation in
00:05 the Middle East, but no statement was issued despite calls from Israel for the armed Palestinian
00:11 group Hamas to be condemned over its attack on Gaza over the weekend.
00:16 The situation is still fluid and very dangerous.
00:21 And we've got to, we're working hard as I know other countries in the region are, to
00:28 try to prevent this conflict from spreading.
00:31 Obviously our thoughts are with all civilians that are hurt, but what we need to focus on
00:35 is this ongoing terrorist violence being committed by Hamas.
00:42 Meanwhile pro-Palestinian protesters held a rally in front of the White House.
00:47 Despite the opposition, Washington is sending military equipment support to Israel.
00:52 It is also sending an aircraft carrier to the eastern Mediterranean aimed at discouraging
00:57 countries like Iran from getting involved.
01:01 Back on European soil, several hundred people gathered in Germany's capital on Sunday to
01:06 show their support for Israel.
01:11 But in Jordan, pro-Palestinian protesters gathered in the capital Amman.
01:16 About 800 demonstrators carried pro-Hamas placards and chanted slogans.
01:23 They also called on the Arab countries to stop normalizing negotiations with Israel.
