01:01 Could you introduce yourself please?

01:03 Yes, I'm Ashley Jenkins, I'm the director for John X. Whitaker Tankers, the owners of this ship.

01:07 And tell us a bit more about this ship.

01:09 Well, we're part of the port community really.

01:11 She's a 6,000 tonne coastal oil tanker

01:14 and her primary role is refuelling the cross-channel ferries and cruise ships that come into the port.

01:19 So we're like a mobile filling station if you will.

01:22 Right, okay. And what's your involvement then with the port and specifically with our open day today?

01:27 Well, the port is very much a community.

01:29 And it's not just about business, but it's about the people behind the scenes as well.

01:33 So we wanted to open up the port and work with the port authority to welcome the members of the public and just to see what we do.

01:40 And of course, we're looking at the next generation of youngsters coming through.

01:44 We are indeed.

01:45 We have cadets in training at any one time.

01:47 And we're hoping to plant a few seeds for these youngsters that there are real career opportunities at sea.

01:52 Yeah, absolutely.

01:53 So what would the message be to the local community who perhaps haven't really had any involvement with the port to come down, get involved?

02:01 Very much so.

02:02 I mean, I believe the council own the port and they're very much integrated with the local community.

02:08 It's a people business.

02:10 We're looking for new recruits always, particularly amongst the youngsters.

02:13 I've got 10 cadets in training at any one time.

02:15 There's opportunities here and we want to engage with the public, basically.

02:19 So this is a real opportunity for everyone to get involved.
