00:03 Now back to the news.
00:06 As if ABC News needed more drama.
00:08 Just as GMA3 is officially washing its hands of co-anchors TJ Holmes and Amy Robich's
00:13 salacious love affair, another scandal is rocking one of the network's flagship local
00:18 news broadcasts.
00:20 Ken Rosato, longtime anchor of Eyewitness News this morning on New York's WABC 7, has
00:25 been given the boot after allegedly making an off-color remark, Page Six has exclusively
00:30 learned.
00:31 Rosato was off the air when he uttered the phrase, "We're told," but an insider told
00:35 us his remark was picked up on an open mic and was immediately let go.
00:39 It's unclear what Rosato said or when exactly he made the comment.
00:44 Another source would only say he was fired for cause immediately.
00:47 Rosato's colleagues learned about the firing on Friday.
00:50 We're told his co-anchors were brought in one by one for a talk about it, but management
00:55 wouldn't tell them what he said.
00:57 Our insider also doesn't know what he uttered, but speculated that it could have been a racial
01:01 slur.
01:02 A rep for Rosato sharply denied that, telling us, "Being fired for any racial slur is 100%
01:08 inaccurate and untrue."
01:10 Ken Rosato had a benchmark of 20 years at WABC of supporting all equality.
01:16 On Friday, the station's general manager alerted staffers via email that Rosato is
01:20 no longer with WABC.
01:22 "We thank him for his years of service," they wrote.
01:26 Rosato joined Eyewitness News as a freelance reporter in 2003 and was promoted to morning
01:31 and noon anchor in 2007.
01:34 He anchored this morning with Shirlene Alliquitt, Heather O'Rourke, and Sam Champion.
01:39 A rep for ABC News did not get back to us.
01:42 The former anchor's bio has been wiped from the company's website.
01:46 His daily tweets from the anchor desk stopped on May 2.
