00:04 I had a Zoom call and the first face to pop up is Jesse Palmer.

00:08 And I knew something was up.

00:10 Get ready for a night that none of us are ever going to forget.

00:14 And after a short chitty chat, Jesse Palmer says,

00:17 "Well, do you want to be the first Golden Bachelor?"

00:19 And I said, "Oh, hell yes."

00:23 There he is!

00:24 [applause]

00:25 There's been a lot of surprises tonight,

00:28 and I'm sure there'll be many more surprises in the days to come.

00:32 I would like to propose a toast to all of you.

00:38 I think there's a stereotype that is imposed on people of a certain age

00:44 that we've slowed down mentally and physically

00:47 and we don't accept challenges like we need to.

00:51 And that's something I really want to change opinion on.

00:55 Do I look like I need help?

00:56 You don't look like you need help at all.

01:00 I want people to see that that demographic

01:04 still enjoys all the values, all the opportunities

01:07 that they did 20 years prior.

01:09 My name is April, and I grew up on a chicken farm.

01:13 And my eggs are still very fresh.

01:16 [laughter]

01:18 The best answer I have to what does love mean to me

01:22 is the feeling that I get when someone looks me in the eye

01:27 and doesn't have to say a single thing,

01:29 and I know the feeling is there.

01:32 And if I can find that person who will look at me in that way,

01:35 I will be happy forever.
