00:00 We are on the side of the road.
00:02 In South Korea.
00:03 Eating oranges.
00:05 If I want the most international place in Seoul, I go to Itaewon.
00:10 Everybody's always moving, always busy.
00:13 You just have to keep up or you'll get left behind.
00:16 We're going to be here for like three hours.
00:18 What brought me to South Korea was my interest in Asian culture.
00:23 We feel like princesses right now.
00:26 Yes.
00:27 Everyone knew like Itaewon is the spot to be on Halloween.
00:31 This was the first in a number of years with no restrictions.
00:35 I just kept continuously telling Anne, "Please go out with me.
00:38 If you go out this weekend, I will never ask you to go out again."
00:42 I start hearing alarm bells go off in my head of, "This isn't safe anymore."
00:53 And a rush of people just break us apart completely.
00:57 Over my shoulder I saw Anne.
01:00 I saw her eyes kept rolling back.
01:02 And I can't move.
01:04 It was an unspoken thing like, "Hey, let's try to help these people."
01:07 We'd grab their arm and pull them as hard as we possibly could.
01:10 And they just would not budge.
01:12 It all comes to a standstill.
01:22 I'm going. I'm going.
01:24 In place.
01:25 There were so many people.
01:30 I felt like I was going to be crushed.
01:32 The crowd pushed me down into the alleyway.
01:36 I didn't choose to go that direction.
01:38 Those four or five people trying to pull people out.
01:41 I only had two thoughts.
01:42 To stay focused.
01:43 And to keep breathing.
01:44 I was trying to rest no matter what.
01:46 Anne had never gone to a bar in her entire life.
01:49 The one time I was able to convince her, she died.
01:53 Some people still call it an accident.
01:59 It is not an accident.
02:01 An accident is something that you couldn't have prevented.
02:05 South Korean authorities have a lot of questions to answer.
02:15 Was there nobody sounding the alarm?
02:18 To prevent something like this happening again,
02:21 we want people to hear our part of the story.
02:25 The Korean War is a war of words.
02:28 You are a human being too.
02:30 We are all human beings.
02:31 We are all human beings.
02:34 The Korean War is a war of words.
02:37 (upbeat music)
