00:00 Turkey's government said two terrorists carried out a bomb attack in front of the
00:06 Interior Ministry buildings in Ankara on Sunday. It said that one died in the explosion and
00:12 the other was neutralised by authorities there. A recording of CCTV footage showed a person
00:17 getting out of a vehicle and running towards the government building, followed by clouds
00:22 of smoke from an explosion.
00:25 A senior Turkish official told Reuters the attackers had hijacked the vehicle and killed
00:29 its driver in Kayseri, a city 161 miles south-east of Ankara, before carrying out the attack.
00:37 Two police officers were also wounded in the incident. Police announced they would
00:42 also be carrying out controlled explosions for suspicious package incidents in other
00:46 parts of Ankara. Authorities did not identify any specific militant group.
00:52 The blast on Atatürk Boulevard was the first in Ankara since 2016, when a bomb-laden car
00:58 exploded at a crowded central transport hub, killing 37 people.
01:04 During a spate of violence in 2015 and 2016, Kurdish militants, Islamic State and other
01:09 groups either claimed or were blamed for several attacks in major Turkish cities.
01:14 The incident also comes on the day that Turkey's parliament was set to open a new session.
01:20 Ankara's chief prosecutor has launched an investigation into Sunday's incident.
