00:00 As of 10 in the morning, the last sight of the center of Baguiongeni is 790 kilometers
00:08 east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
00:11 The wind is now 85 kilometers per hour near its center and there is a gust of 115 kilometers
00:18 per hour.
00:19 It moves a little slowly west-northwest at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour.
00:25 Based on our latest satellite animation, if you can notice, the outer portion is the
00:29 so-called trough of Baguiongeni.
00:30 It is now affecting a large part of Luzon, especially here in the eastern section.
00:38 We expect strong rainstorms over Bicol Region, nearby areas here in Quezon Province, and
00:44 we have light to moderate rains here in Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and here in the summer provinces.
00:51 We also expect rainstorms to reach the outer portion of Baguiongeni.
00:55 We also have occasional rainstorms over the western side, including Metro Manila.
01:01 Speaking of western side, this part of Palawan, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and
01:06 Bangsamoro Region, there are also rainstorms, along the southwestern portion of Baguio Region,
01:11 which is being affected by Baguiogeni.
01:13 We expect rainstorms to continue in the north Philippine Sea, in many areas of southern
01:22 Luzon, Visayas, and western Mindanao.
01:25 This is the latest track regarding severe tropical storm Geni.
01:30 Starting today, Sunday to Tuesday, the storm will move generally northwestward.
01:37 And then, when Wednesday to Friday arrives, the storm will move to the westward, and based
01:44 on our latest track, it will be in the Philippine Area of Responsibility when Thursday arrives.
01:51 In terms of intensity, this is a severe tropical storm, which is in the middle of a strong
01:56 storm.
01:57 But tomorrow, it is possible for it to become a typhoon, until it leaves the Philippine Area
02:02 of Responsibility.
02:03 Its peak intensity is possible to occur by Tuesday, by 150 km/h maximum sustained winds.
02:11 But we are still not taking away the chance that it will become a super typhoon, knowing
02:16 that it is in favorable conditions in a hot part of the ocean.
02:20 Meanwhile, in terms of its width or diameter, it is 500 km, the total area of the storm
02:27 is strong.
02:28 So, it means that as it moves up to the north Philippine Sea, this storm Geni, it is possible
02:34 for a strong wind to affect a large part of northern Luzon and even the province of Aurora.
02:40 So, in these areas, we are still not taking away the chance that we will also experience
02:44 tropical cyclone wind signals.
02:46 Our TCWS is possible to move up as early as tonight and it is also possible to continue
02:51 until the next days.
02:54 By tomorrow, we expect that it will be at 660 km east of Calayan, Cagayan.
03:00 It will still be near, when it reaches Tuesday, at 400 km east of Batanes.
03:05 And when it reaches Wednesday, where the storm Geni is closest to our land, which is only
03:12 200 km away, it will be at the north east of Itbayat, Batanes.
03:17 When it comes to rain, for the next three days, our rain will not only be due to storm
03:24 Hanak, but also due to the southwest monsoon, as we have shown earlier in our satellite animation.
03:29 By today, the first day of October, we expect rain in the southern portion of Palawan,
03:35 Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi due to the southwest monsoon or Habagat.
03:43 By tomorrow, we will have the same effect as the next days.
03:47 Due to the storm Geni, we will have rain in Batanes, Babuyan Islands, mainland Cagayan,
03:53 and Isabela.
03:54 And here in Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, and western Visayas, we will have the effect of
03:59 Habagat, which was intensified by the storm Geni.
04:02 By Tuesday, October 3, we expect rain in northern Luzon, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands,
04:09 mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Ilocos Norte, and Nepayaw.
04:13 The direct effect of this storm Geni is due to Habagat, here in Occidental Mindoro,
04:19 northern portion of Palawan, and the province of Antique.
04:22 We have taken care of the places we have mentioned regarding possible floods, especially in
04:27 low-lying areas, the flooding of rivers, and the erosion of land in our mountainous areas.
04:34 We are also expecting these scenarios in the next days since we expect that we will have
04:41 continuous rains in the next days.
04:44 In terms of strong winds, we are also expecting gusty conditions due to the enhanced southwest
04:52 monsoon for the next three days.
04:54 For today and tomorrow, we expect gusty winds over Mimaropa and western Visayas.
05:00 By Tuesday, we expect continuous gusty winds in Mimaropa, Bicol Region, western Visayas,
05:07 and a large portion of Calabarzon.
05:09 But this is not a direct effect of this storm Geni, but the effect of Habagat, which was
05:14 intensified by the storm.
05:16 And when it comes to high waves, we do not have a gale warning yet, but the chance of
05:22 high waves in the next days is high, given that the storm Geni is approaching our land.
05:31 We have moderate to rough seas over Batanes and northern coast of Cagayan, including
05:37 Babuyan Islands, which are 2 to 4 meters high from tomorrow.
05:41 And possibly, these waves will increase as the storm approaches.
05:46 Our possible gale warning is that we will have sea travel suspensions tomorrow, not
05:52 only for small sea vessels or fishermen, but also for large sea vehicles once we have
05:58 increased tropical cyclone wind signals.
06:01 And while the storm Geni is approaching, it is also enhancing the southwest monsoon,
06:06 Habagat.
06:07 So we expect that there will be high waves in many seaboards of Sulu Sea and the west
06:11 Philippine Sea in the next days.
06:15 That is why we have instructed our fellow countrymen to follow the tropical cyclone bulletins
06:20 of Geni every 6 hours, and our weather advisories when it comes to heavy rains, every 12 hours.
06:30 You can see our thunderstorm and rainfall advisories and heavy rainfall warnings on our
06:35 social media accounts, on our Twitter, on our website, on our Facebook pages, and
06:40 anytime, anytime, anytime, we will be releasing advisories and warnings as soon as we see
06:47 a heavy downpour approaching your area.
06:50 Be better.
