00:00 The idea of playing a character that I created 50 years ago, I thought, you know, she's
00:11 had 50 years of living.
00:14 Who has she become?
00:17 What are the experiences that happened to her in those 50 years?
00:22 And how does that affect the person she is now?
00:26 And that started to interest me creatively.
00:32 And I realized that, you know, we are the, in any moment of time, the sum total of everything
00:42 that's happened to us and how we've reacted to it, responded to it, how it's become part
00:49 of our character.
00:51 And I thought that was an interesting creative challenge to explore.
00:59 Working with Leslie and working with David, that they're both good men to begin with and
01:08 fine artists dedicated to what they're doing.
01:13 And for me, there's no richer experience in my life than being creative and working with
01:22 someone who's also creative and we're in this thing together.
01:27 And you know, I said to Leslie that, I said, "I like working."
01:36 Oh, I said, "I like playing with you."
01:38 He said, "I like playing with you too."
01:40 I said, "Yeah, we're good playmates."
01:44 That's what it feels like, you know.
01:47 We had fun doing this very difficult material.
01:55 It's a terrifying thought that you can be taken over by a force that's inside.
02:08 It's the most, I mean, it's one thing to be taken over by somebody coming in the room
02:13 and tying you up or kidnapping you or threatening you.
02:17 But the idea of an inner force being able to get possession of you and you can't control
02:26 it, I don't think there's anything more terrifying.
02:33 So for a horror film, it's a very good premise.
02:37 There are rituals for it in every religion, in every country, in every culture.
02:48 And they're all different because they all have different belief systems.
02:53 They have different gods.
02:54 They have different demons.
02:59 But there are certain similarities.
03:04 And the exorcisms work, strangely enough.
03:13 It's fun for people who like horror films, people who like to get scared and then after
03:21 the scary scenes over to laugh and, you know, that was really scary.
03:27 That release that people feel after they've been really scared but it's not for real.
03:34 That's what horror films seem to be for.
03:38 And I think they will get their money's worth with this one.
03:45 They do think it'll be scary as hell, literally.
03:50 And people who like to be scared ought to go see this movie.
