Dom Smith post-match review Chelsea v Aston Villa
Transcript
00:00 Hello and welcome back to Stamford Bridge where Chelsea suffered another gutting home defeat, this time against Aston Villa.
00:08 It started okay for Chelsea, they made a decent start to the match but at half-time it was 0-0 and Aston Villa were coming more and more into the game.
00:15 Malo Gusto, the right-back, was explosive down the right wing and he felt like one of Chelsea's best players at that point.
00:21 But he got himself sent off on 58 minutes when the referee upgraded his yellow card for a robust challenge on Luca Dinha to a red card via looking at the VAR monitor.
00:31 And really that was the right decision, it was an overzealous challenge and Malo Gusto was sent off.
00:36 Chelsea got worse from there and Aston Villa grew into the game and they scored the only goal of the game, Aston Villa, shortly after that when Oli Watkins went through on goal, one-on-one with Robert Sanchez.
00:46 Sanchez was excellent throughout this match and saved at the first attempt but the ball went straight back out to Watkins who thumped it in.
00:53 And that was the only goal of a game where Chelsea really were disappointing in all areas.
00:59 Their fan base were booing at half-time when the referee bizarrely stopped play one minute and five seconds before stoppage time was fully played out.
01:07 That was a really strange decision from the referee but Chelsea again had such woes in front of goal.
01:12 They had chances, couldn't take any of them and lost one at home.
01:16 From their last three Premier League fixtures now, they've taken just one point from matches against Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Villa here.
01:23 It's another really disappointing day for them.
