00:00 Hello there, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met. As we go through the
00:04 next few days, the weather is certainly set to remain unsettled, especially towards the
00:07 middle part of the week. We've already got warnings in force. More on that in a little
00:11 bit. Back to here and now, we have this huge area of low pressure generally dominating
00:15 the British Isles as we go through the next 24 hours. Note the tightly packed isobars
00:19 across Scotland and Northern Ireland indicating it's going to be pretty windy here too. Maybe
00:25 a little bit drier and a bit calmer towards the south east. So a little bit more detail
00:29 for the rest of Sunday. We have this area of rain across Scotland and Northern Ireland
00:33 that will spread its way eastwards across the rest of the British Isles as we go through
00:36 the course of the night. Some heavy rain still though as we end the night across Scotland
00:41 and quite windy here. Risk of gales, severe gales initially during the course of the night
00:45 but they may well ease a little bit as we head towards dawn. A mild night for all of
00:50 us, temperatures staying firmly in double figures. So as we start Monday, we've still
00:55 got maybe a little bit of overnight rain to contend with down towards the very far south
00:58 east. But for a lot of England and Wales, we can start the new working week with plenty
01:03 of sunshine. Showers from the word go for Scotland and Northern Ireland and they may
01:06 well spread their way a little bit further southwards as the day goes on. But all the
01:10 time, the most frequent and heaviest showers really going to be reserved for Scotland and
01:14 Northern Ireland. Blustery here too, winds a little bit lighter further south and thanks
01:19 to that, we're actually going to feel quite warm here. Highs reaching 22 to 23 degrees
01:24 in the south east. Into the evening, actually a fine end to the day for a good chunk of
01:29 England, Wales, eastern Scotland. Further outbreaks of rain or showers for western Scotland
01:34 and Northern Ireland however as we go through the course of the night. But elsewhere under
01:38 the clearer skies, may see a little bit of mist and fog form and then just the risk of
01:42 a few showers just developing later on across the very far south coast of England. Another
01:47 mild night however, temperatures staying once again in double figures. So we're keeping
01:53 a close eye on these showers as they work their way across parts of south east England
01:56 and east Anglia during the course of the morning. Could hear a few rumbles of thunder too. But
02:01 then note this next band of rain spreading eastwards across the country. Could turn quite
02:05 gusty and squally as this band of rain moves its way eastwards. Quite heavy too for Scotland
02:10 but behind it, we then return to a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers. Temperatures
02:16 on Tuesday, very similar. So kind of round the high teens in the north, low 20s across
02:22 the south. But once again, kind of tempered a little bit by that strength of the wind.
02:27 And then towards the middle of the week, we're keeping a very close eye on things. We have
02:30 a very strong jet stream out in the Atlantic. So that's a breeding ground really for some
02:34 deep areas of low pressure. And one of these will move their way towards the British Isles
02:38 as we go into Wednesday. Potentially a very windy spell, especially so for the Republic
02:42 of Ireland but also for ourselves. So we do already have some warnings out in force for
02:48 Wednesday and Thursday. Risk of gusts reaching 80mph along some exposed coastlines of England,
02:55 Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. So we will keep a very close eye on things. My main
03:00 advice at the moment is to keep an eye on the weather forecast and you can always check
03:03 out our website or social media for the latest weather updates. But that's all from me. Take
03:08 care and I'll see you again soon.
