NYFW Spring/Summer 2024: The Blonds Latest Line Salutes Titans in Mythology and Music

The Blonds once again closed fashion week with a bang. The latest collection from founders David and Phillipe Blond was a mixture of mythic creatures and iconic pop and rockstars.

00:07 The only thing that I was really looking forward to this week, this is like, I'm so excited.

00:16 Everybody comes out here just for this show. They've made some body suits for me for my

00:19 tours and stuff, so I'm really excited to be here sitting in front of them. It's an

00:23 honor.

00:23 What am I obsessed with in fashion? I mean, honestly, I love all of the costume stuff

00:27 that the blondes do. I love that it's not something that anyone on the street can wear.

00:32 It's something that's made specifically for pop stars and performers and stuff, so I really

00:36 love the blondes. They're kind of my fave.

00:39 This week has been super busy, super fun, but it's been a blast. And this is such a

00:44 good way to just like, you know, to go out with a bang.

00:48 Oh, I've never missed a blonde show. I just love them as a couple. David and Philippe

00:51 Blonde, they're so fabulous and what they've created together is amazing. Because they

00:56 create dazzling costumes, really, that draw upon historical pop culture references, whether

01:02 it be Disney princesses or Carnaby Street. Like a Julie Christie or a Kate Ashbery hippie.

01:08 And they always say I really should wear my shades at their shows because they're so blinding.

01:13 So here I am.

01:14 Well, this season we really wanted to have fun with the theme and we kind of had a dual

01:20 vision of what the show was going to be. We started off with this idea of like, Clash

01:24 of the Titans and mythology and astrology and like all these things. But then we were

01:28 also on the other side, like listening to our favorite pop music. So, you know, people

01:33 like Britney Spears, Cher, Bowie, you know, we have this amazing model in the show tonight

01:39 named Bo Dean and she's an up and coming reggaeton artist. So, you know, again, we're always

01:44 about music, so we thought we'd throw that in there as well. But it was an interesting

01:47 mix because, you know, we're talking about like pop icon rock and roll gods versus the

01:53 titans. So it's like this sort of mix of like blonde titans is what we're calling it. Almost

01:58 every silhouette is different. You'll see a couple of twins in there that are kind of

02:01 like representative of like the idea of a Gemini split. And, you know, that's sort of

02:06 really where we took the direction from.

02:08 Accessories, we worked with Alison Manuel and Christian Louboutin. So Alison Manuel did

02:13 these amazing jewelry pieces that you'll see on the head. There'll be like crowns and all

02:16 these incredible like necklaces and cuffs. And Louboutin, I mean, they do an amazing

02:21 job every season with, you know, the footwear and every piece gets something custom.

02:26 Well, it's obviously a lot of sparkle. We do that every season. So there's different

02:30 colors that make sense, like the water. There's like a reference to Leo's, which is like gold,

02:36 you know, all the colorways are sort of driven by that idea of either the constellation or

02:41 the titan like Medusa, you know, those types of things. So you'll see a little representation

02:45 of each.

02:46 They're my favorite designers. They always dress me in the cutest outfits for their show.

02:51 And they do the best fashion shows every single time. It's the best show at Fashion Week.

02:56 Obviously other than Philippe's, we always say Philippe is our favorite piece, but there's

03:00 this sort of Jett hematite catsuit that's more my speed.
