00:00 the only sound that can start a war or say "I love you". The ability to express

00:05 yourself powerfully is very very significant. Speaking powerfully we have

00:11 to take responsibility for. It can affect how well you feel because it's

00:15 frustrating if you can't get your point across. A lot of people have the

00:18 experience of when they're speaking just not being listened to. What's the most

00:22 common complaint in relationships? He or she doesn't listen to me. Yeah I'm

00:28 listening to you. I am. Yeah you know that one. There are four foundations I think

00:33 to powerful speaking and those four foundations spell a word. The word is

00:37 "hail" which one definition of hail is to greet or acclaim enthusiastically which

00:43 is how I suggest your communication will be received if you stand in these four

00:47 things. They stand for "H" - honesty. That is just being straight and clear in your

00:55 speaking. The "A" is authenticity - being yourself. No need to pretend. Generally

01:02 it's far more powerful to be yourself and to be fully yourself when you're

01:06 speaking to people whether it's one-to-one or an audience of thousands.

01:09 The "I" is integrity. Integrity means being your word. If you say it, it happens.

01:17 Your words are very powerful indeed. On the other hand if you say you'll be

01:22 there and you're never there people develop a fairly cynical listening for

01:27 your promises. The "L" surprisingly perhaps is love. Now I don't mean romantic

01:33 love here obviously I'm talking about well-wishing. Just wishing people well. So

01:38 love is kindness and it tempers the whole conversation. Hail is a very

01:43 powerful place to stand and if you're standing on those four things people can

01:47 recognize where you're coming from and it's much more powerful. Let's try and be

01:51 direct and clear in our speaking. This is going to become increasingly important.

01:55 This where you're speaking consciously and perhaps you can ask people to listen

02:00 consciously. If we put some of these principles into practice in our sending

02:04 I can't guarantee people are going to listen perfectly but I would say you

02:09 will have a much better chance of being received fully and then we have a world

02:14 where sound actually is working for us instead of against us and I think that's

02:19 a world that's worth striving for.
