State volcanologists are advising residents in Cagayan to be on alert for another potential earthquake.
That's after a tremor hit the town of Calayan Tuesday affecting over 40 families.

00:00 Another strong earthquake may rock Calayan, Cagayan following the magnitude 6.3 tremor
00:05 this week.
00:06 Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, or PHIVOLCS, Director Teresito Bacolcol says
00:12 there are six active faults in the province.
00:15 As of Thursday afternoon, 131 aftershocks were recorded, though none were felt.
00:20 "So when a fault moves and generates an earthquake, it releases stress at the same time.
00:28 And that stress can be accommodated by a nearby fault."
00:33 Forty-three families were affected by the quake.
00:36 Some of the victims are still staying in evacuation centers.
00:40 Five people were hurt, four had mild injuries, and a teenager is in serious condition.
00:46 Cracks were also observed in at least 24 structures, including schools and houses in Calayan.
00:52 The province's Disaster Management Office has advised residents to be cautious and prepare
00:57 for future earthquakes.
00:59 "We are asking everyone to religiously practice our National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill
01:06 so that everyone knows what to do so they won't rattle once there is a shake.
01:16 And everyone should comply with what our National Building Code says.
01:24 Once they comply, they are sure that their structure will withstand intensity 8 earthquake."
