Is it too early to start your Christmas shopping?

Many shops are already stocked with Christmas stock but is September too soon to start getting ready for the big day. We have sent camera crews out across the country for peoples opinion’s.

00:07 Um, way too early. I think about a month ago I saw the first sort of Christmasy stuff in

00:13 a supermarket. In fact I took a photograph and said, you know, what the hell is this?

00:18 Well unless it's a bargain, unless it's unless it's on a 50, 60% sale, then yeah, it's not

00:23 too early.

00:24 I mean I used to work at retail so I know, yeah I worked in John Lewis and you know the

00:28 the Twinkies stuff was always in by the end of September. I think if people want to spread

00:33 their shopping out, that's fine. I don't do a lot of shopping anyway but I'm a miserable

00:37 person but no I think if it helps people it helps people, yeah.

00:40 And people have already got their Christmas cards out, wrapping paper. End of November

00:45 will be fine. Um, I mean we've not even had Halloween. So if we haven't, so as we've not

00:54 had Halloween, then get that out of the way first and then think of Christmas.

01:00 Yes, I think so. Yes, it's in my mind but I won't go and buy anything yet. Maybe October.

01:12 Well I like to look at it but I can't bring myself to buy anything just yet. It's got

01:16 to be, well it can't be warm like this. It's got to be colder. Yeah.

01:21 Yeah, it is early. It is early because things can change. People's habits, you know, people's

01:25 wants can change, can't they? But you can understand it's a money spinner, isn't it?

01:30 Yes. Too early, yes. We haven't even had Halloween yet.

01:36 When do you recommend you start then?

01:38 Oh, I'd say probably the middle of November and after, maybe after Guy Fawkes night.

01:50 I just stand well back and let that course, let it take its natural course.

02:04 Because there are some, I like to get the Advent calendar type gifts, you know, that

02:13 the perfume companies bring out and you have to get those quite early. Never too early.

02:19 I feel like the earlier you start, the better deals you get. At Christmas time, they increase

02:22 everything. So I don't think it's too early. It's good to start getting little bits here

02:25 and there when you can.

02:27 The closer you get to Christmas, I think that the more expensive things get and like the

02:31 less time you have to think hard about what people want or what you think suits people.

02:36 So I just like to get it done and out of the way.

02:38 I have not started yet. I normally do in like November because I just, I don't know what

02:46 to buy. Like, you never know. So I just leave it a bit last minute.
